If there’s one thing more annoying than politicians openly pandering to big business interests at the expense of doing what’s right – it’s politicians openly pandering to big business interests at the expense of doing what’s right and thinking we’re all too stupid to notice.
Here are three facts:
- Lynton Crosby is the Tories’ chief election strategist.
- Lynton Crosby’s firm Crosby Textor is a paid lobbyist for big tobacco companies such as Philip Morris and British American Tobacco.
- The Tories have dropped plans to introduce plain packaging for cigarettes – a policy strongly opposed by big tobacco companies such as Philip Morris and British American Tobacco.
Now, got your stupid hat on? Good. Because here’s what the Tories want you to believe.
These three pieces of information are entirely unrelated.

But if it were just down to the Tories Tom then the ‘upright, honest’ Lib Dems would point to the above facts and hammer their political partners. Since that is not happening I think we can take it that it is all a complete coincidence!

Conversely, the ‘free-trade agreements’ or FTAs are about freedom, trade and an agreement. They definitely not about Corporate tribunals over-ruling UK employment/environmental legislation or restricting the internet. They are also not about bringing in foreign workers to undercut UK wages and pay-bargaining agreements.

I don’t think it’s about what we believe, but the government knowing that we can’t do anything about anything they do, and then hoping, (in some cases, they are right)! that we will forget the worst of what they do!!!!!

“……Cameron’s spokesman said the prime minister was “crystal clear that he has never been lobbied or been given advice by Lynton Crosby on the issue of plain packaging for cigarettes”.
Does ‘crystal clear’ just mean that Cameron denies doing it himself? And that maybe that one of his sidekicks did the dirty on his behalf?

Heres a worrying thought 9/10 londoners think that benefit claimants are better off dead…just read two worrying items..mirror blog stating that on avg 32 ppl for every week due to welfare reforms..in a FOI request DWP stated that 26,000 claimants have died. mostly suicide.. of course these figures can be disputed..maybe thats why they released them..all the same i find it shocking that so many ppl can be in favour of a policy that pushes ppl to such extremes where they take their own lives..so. what are we to conclude? Nine out of ten are happy that ppl kill themselves ?

Why on earth would any sane employer want foreign workers? Illegal immigrants may take less than the minimum wage, but will unquestionably want to be paid wages.
When the Tories point out – as they will before the next election – that they have reduced immigration, note that that achievement has no connection to another Conservative achievement:-
The Tories have created a massive pool of slave Labour, free to suitable employers only, colloquially known as job seekers on work experience.

‘Why on earth would any sane employer want foreign workers?’ I agree with you nevertheless this movement of Indian workers is the intent of the EU-India FTA which has been secretly negotiated but not yet signed. I’m not even sure that it would count as immigration .. and with the FTA which Cameron is desperate to get signed, they certainly won’t be illegal.
