A former active member of the IRA is now an active member of the Tory Party despite admitting she once celebrated the deaths of British soldiers and even civilians killed in terrorist acts:
Maria Gatland – once known as Maria McGuire – is now a Conservative Party councillor in Croydon after being reelected in 2014.
Ms Gatland was briefly suspended by the Tories in 2008 once her past was revealed but after an “internal investigation” she was then openly readmitted into the party.
Unsurprisingly, there is no mention of the fact she was an active IRA member on the Croydon Conservatives webpage:
Ms Gatland is now the Tories’ Croydon representative for Children, Families & Learning.

I don’t believe in holding something against someone for the rest of their lives as redeeming is a quality. However politician has to be above any such past one would think( we know it isnt) and be able to say ”I have always held the view and tried to help others, thats why I wanted to be in this job”

Nowhere did she “once celebrate” civilians being killed.
If you’re going to do a hit piece on a Tory scumbag and inaccuracies in reporting at least be accurate yourself.
She clearly said she accepted that civilian casualties were going to happen in an urban guerrilla conflict. Nowhere did she celebrate them.

Well Mr Ban, That’s ok then? She assisted in purchasing weapons that ultimately cost British lives, glad she has allegedly redeemed herself but I still do not believe that warrants her being an ex Tory cabinet minister and now Tory Councillor for Croydon ffs.

Well I think the IRA were completely justified in engaging British soldiers. These were the same British soldiers who were gunning down civil rights protesters in Derry, massacring civilians in Ballymurphy, propping up a unionist one-party apartheid regime and arming and directing loyalists to slaughter innocent people all over Ireland.
So in my eyes it was perfectly okay to shoot back at them.
The thing here is, this article is berating the press while at the same time engaging in the same type of inaccuracy which Corbyn supporters are rightly angered by.

Its pretty sickening that the UK press, and people have been trying to turn what was a sickening attack in Manchester into a political point.
People should really look closer to home at what really is being done. Trying to paint Corbyn as a terrorist sympathiser is hypocritical especially when there is an active member of the IRA in your party!
