Last November, Croydon’s two Tory MPs – Gavin Barwell and Chris Philp – voted to support cuts to local authority funding which will see their own constituents in Croydon lose £44 million.
But this week, the two MPs merrily supported the transfer of £24 million in extra ‘relief funding’ to neighbouring Surrey’s much wealthier constituents.
I’m no expert on political campaigning strategy, but it doesn’t sound to me like the best way to treat your voters if you’re hoping to get reelected.
Perhaps Gavin and Chris are hoping their constituents will have forgotten by the time of the next election?

The reality od party politics and the rule of the Whips who after all could engineer their re-selection especially if their r seat(s) are disappearing under the 2017 boundaries changes and they are hoping to move to safe seat in shire

Get used to it they’ve got another two years of crapping on Croydon before they even begin to think about their constituents (or in Plips case until he retires). By constituents I mean reelection.

Also I imagine with the boundary changes south of south Croydon will become part of Surrey and Croydon Central will be expanded south to ensure Barwell’s majority is more than 167

I’m surprised what these MPs is possible let alone legal. Government departments don’t giive money to MPs – it paid to local government departments.It’s certainly immoral.
However prosperous their constituents might generally be, I can’t belive there isn’t some level of deprivation.
Indeed the Treasury will probably cut next year’s fundng since they obviously don’t need it
