The Department for Work and Pensions has announced it is launching a campaign to clamp down on benefit fraud by stuffed toys after reports a supposedly disabled teddy bear has been seen openly working for the BBC on national television.
In an undercover operation, DWP investigators revealed the bear – which claims to have visual impairment problems – was raking in over 30 million a year working one day a year on a BBC programme called ‘Children in Need’ while it claimed to be disabled.
The investigation comes after a campaign by the Daily Mail which aimed to encourage its readers to help fight welfare crime by reporting possible cases of benefit fraud.
The newspaper revealed it had received a large number of calls to its ‘benefit cheats’ hotline after readers noticed the cheating bear working on television last night.
In an editorial, the Mail said:
“Social security should be a safety net for those in need, not a ticket for grasping, lazy layabout BBC bears leading a luxury lifestyle funded by you. The Mail is leading the charge to rid Britain of a generation of scrounging stuffed toys — and with your help we are starting to succeed.“
And in a statement thanking the Mail, the Prime Minister David Cameron said:
“Every year, a large amount of taxpayers money is stolen by benefit fraudsters like Pudsey the Bear. This bear has been wrongly taking money from other people, and I’d like to thank the Mail and its readers for not tolerating the criminal actions of pilfering BBC playthings like this.“

At least with ‘Paddington’ you knew he was socially disadvantaged although the addiction to Marmalade could, potentially, lead to serious problems and create even more strain on the NHS.

Apparently Pudsey is also sitting on £86 million of money he has earned from previous years work.
Not to worry though the BBC are keeping it safe in their bank account for him.

If there was indeed ‘welfare crime’ then the 70 per cent rise in starvation that has led to a huge rise in malnutrition hospital admissions and children suffering the hunger symtom of Ricketts, would not have occurred.
Criminals do not starve.
The disabled / chronic sick lose benefit altogether as well sanctioned at any age, and so left with no food money.
If you are over 60 and a woman then you are hit
by the total loss of multiple benefits
and loss since 2013 of state pension payout for 6 years and more,
which after that is vastly reduced or
even, again, lost forever in old age.
The 60s to retirement age have forever lost
the last safety net for food and fuel money to survive.
This effects women born from 1953 and men born from 1951
https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/state-pension-at-60-now
So far it appears one lone hope to all this loss is The Greens’ 2015 manifesto pledge that replaces all this cruel benefits regime, with:
– universal Citizen Income, automatic by citizenship, non-withdrawable
to the level of the basic tax allowance
– After CI, a Bettered Full State Pension for all citizens, bar none,
so leaving none with no food and fuel money in old age.

This is simply not right. Even the DWP and the Mail would have to admit that Pudsey Bear is genuinely severely disabled. It’s obvious that poor Pudsey was born without paws, vocal cords or genitalia.
Couldn’t Pudsey’s GP have told them that?… Oops, sorry, I forgot that the government contracted out that responsibility to some faceless company or other.
