Jonathan Arkush – the President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews – is smearing Jeremy Corbyn with lies about anti-semitism.
But why would he do that?
Well, you see, what Arkush and the mainstream press is not mentioning, is that Arkush is more than a tiny bit biased when it comes to Jeremy Corbyn.
Because Arkush is a Tory. A right-wing one.
Here’s Arkush praising Theresa May and her “exceptionally warm and friendly” DUP coalition partners in the Jerusalem Post:
UK JEWISH LEADER: KINGMAKER DUP IS FRIEND OF THE COMMUNITY AND ISRAEL
I can’t tell you how so, so angry it makes me that someone could cynically use false accusations of anti-semitism, which in living memory produced such terrible suffering, such utter, utter tragedy and mass murder, for petty party political point scoring.
Especially when we hear not a peep from Arkush or the Board of Deputies of British Jews when a Tory activist is caught posting photographs of himself doing Nazi salutes on Facebook:
Home Secretary Amber Rudd campaigned with Nazi saluting activist in Hastings
At this point, it’s also worth pointing out that my own great-grandmother and other members of my family were murdered in a Nazi concentration camp for being Jewish.
Here’s what my dad wrote about it on Facebook last Holocaust Memorial Day – he puts it so much better than I ever could:
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day.
I can’t help but get upset and very angry about something that happened so many years ago.
My grandmother on my father’s side a frail, old, innocent, lady, who never did anyone any harm was stripped naked herded into a “shower room” in front of young German soldiers, probably laughing, then gassed, and dumped in a pit!
I sadly never had the chance to meet her, but I often think of her and wonder how could any other human do that to an old lady.
Very hard to forgive!
So before anyone starts to accuse me of anti-semitism for supporting Jeremy Corbyn – don’t even f*cking think about it.

I do feel also that there is a difference between antisemitism and being against the occupation of the West Bank. This doesn’t make Palestinian aggression right, but equally, aggression by the state of Israel isn’t right, either. But speaking out against Israel is conflated with antisemitism, which isn’t necessarily so.

I grieve with and for your family. I follow your postings regularly and respect your drive as a truth teller. The DUP and Teresa May’s cronies are despicable creatures, their lies, deceptions and vile actions are only rivaled by the horrifying White House squatters (I am an American living in the UK since 1999 and I cannot bear to even say the US President’s name.) So glad you are a Corbyn supporter, it feels as if he is turning the tide with the help of regular, ordinary human beings.

I am a socialist and supporter of Jeremy Corbyn- i never think about Israel or Jewish people in any detrimental way-i do however disapprove of the War being waged in the West Bank of which Israel for me are the aggressors – Not sure that makes me anti Semite- Corbyn i think ,thinks the same way.

I wouldn’t dream of accusing all Jeremy Corbyn’s supporters of anti-semitism. My much- loved stepdaughter is a Corbyn supporter but certainly no anti-Semite. Most Corbyn supporters just believe naively in his Marxist inspired prescription for the control of the economy.
But, as Corbyn himself admits, there are pools of anti-semitism in the Labour Party. The charge against Corbyn is that he has done little if anything to drain the anti-Semitic swamp and seems to have too many friends that inhabit this swamp. From that, many commentators, including members of the Labour Party infer that he is himself an anti-Semite or at least doesn’t give sufficient priority to swamp draining. His defence of a revoltingly anti Semitic cartoon provides credibility for the former view. His supporters’ claim that he never spotted the racist tone of the cartoon stretches credulity. If true he is in urgent need of a visit to SpecSavers!

On several related notes.
Using anti-Semitism as a weapon is to reduce Judaism to a political tool, making it less than human. What could be more anti-Semitic than that?

Henry Rumbold, the ‘cartoon’ (actually a mural – good of you to research the subject so thoroughly before mouthing off about it) was not anti-Semtiic. It was anti-capitalist.

Henry Rumbold: Clearly you are anti-Labour and have drawn in all the metaphores possible in a short comment to support that, Marxist, anti-Semite, anti-Semitic swamp.
Swamp would infer a mass of anti-Semites, I for one know of no one I have met in the Labour Party I could accuse of being anti-Semitic. I doubt you yourself could point a finger at any individual yet you freely band this propaganda about as though it were true.
Perhaps you are easily gulled, or even want to believe anything that puts Labour and Jeremy Corbyn in a bad light, but that said you will have to go a long way to justify that against known rascists in the Tory Party, remember Johnson’s Piccaninny?
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2008/jan/23/london.race
We all know that Jeremy Corbyn has campaigned all his opolitical life against racism and anti-Semitism and to infer otherwise is just telling lies.

I quote below from an article in the Independent on allegations that Jeremy Corbyn had failed to disown as anti Semitic the mural you claim is not anti-Semitic.
“ The row deepened after revelations that, in 2012, Mr Corbyn had argued that an antisemitic mural should not be removed from a wall in the Tower Hamlets.
The painting depicted several wealthy Jews playing Monopoly, with the board resting on the bowed, naked backs of workers.
In response to the artist’s Facebook post about the image being removed, Mr Corbyn wrote: “Why?…You are in good company. Rockerfeller [sic] destroyed Diego Viera’s [sic] mural because it includes a picture of Lenin.”
The Labour leader said last week that he “sincerely regrets” not looking “more closely” at the mural, which he admitted was “deeply disturbing and antisemitic”.
So even Corbyn himself now admits the mural was anti-Semitic. Isn’t that enough for you?

Well I have to say that at first I didn’t see anti semitism in the wall mural. I thought it was a bunch of old men playing monopoly. After seeing the comments I looked again at it and I could understand why some people thought it anti semitic. I don’t know the history of it and maybe that would be something to influence my opinion but to be honest I am on the fence about it.

I have discovered today from an article in the Times that there are several versions of the notorious mural by Kalen Ockerman aka Mear One. The original shows 6 elderly men with large hooked noses playing Monopoly on a board supported by crouching figures, the large, hooked noses are characteristic of ant-Semitic cartoons etc.
In the later versions of the mural (still available from Ockerman’s website) the faces of the 6 elderly men have been redrawn and size of their noses substantially reduced so that they no longer appear Jewish.

Henry four of the figures are of Anglo origin, two, not several, are Jewish and the painting is about Bankers.
You can construe anything you like about art, people do, but the artist himself talks about this when he was painting it to observers at the time.
I don’t have to justify Jeremy Corbyn’s anti rascist record but this article goes a long way in doing that:
https://evolvepolitics.com/watch-jeremy-corbyn-is-no-anti-semite-his-emotional-cable-street-speech-proves-he-is-the-exact-opposite-video/
It really is funny how the mass media readily propagate Jeremy Corbyn as a hate figure, when his own record stands for itself.
Only the gullible swallow what the mass media tell them.
