(not satire – it’s David Cameron!)
There was a lot of praise recently for David Cameron’s decision to send his daughter to a state school:
Camerons To Send Daughter To Top State School
It now turns out the school is not so ‘state’ after all.
Parents – including the Camerons – have to pay a ‘donation’ to the school to secure a place:
EXCLUSIVE: Gove and PM school made forbidden donation request
It is – incidentally – illegal for state schools to ask for money in this way.
Which means, this is what we used to call a good-old-fashioned scandal.
Oh what is that technical word policemen use to describe this kind of financial transaction.
Oh yes, I remember now.
Bribery.
But don’t expect to hear much about this in the mainstream press in the lead up to the election.
.
POSTSCRIPT: Apparently the school uniform at the Grey Coat Hospital School also costs at least £140 – plus parents are expected to ‘donate’ at least £95 a year to a so-called School Fund.

Tony Blair also went to a ‘normal secondary school’ FETTES, Edinburgh…check it out and he sent his children to another ‘normal’ school’ The London Oratory’ I went there and its in no way a ‘normal’ grammar school. Cost my parents a fortune. Money they didn’t really have. Catholic children only. Elitist.

Tom Pride here reveals another piece of Tory duplicity and corruption. It seems that the state school to which Cameron has deigned to send his daughter is actually one that fancies itself as fee-paying. Mr Pride points out that for a state school to ask for funds in this way is illegal.
It is, however, very much in line with Tory policy: part-privatise everything, but pretend it’s state sector anyway. Make sure it’s run for profit, while telling the proles precisely the opposite. And what ever you do, make sure that everything is properly greased through brown envelopes stuffed with cash.
No wonder this country is being listed as one of western Europe’s most corrupt. And no wonder too that Cameron’s Tories are getting donations from Russian oligarchs, the beneficiaries of Putin’s open and transparent government in Russia.
Hem hem, I do not think. This is indeed a swiz and chiz, as N. Molesworth would sa.

Utter bollocks. Hope you have deep pockets, because you’re going to need a good lawyer.

The school is breaking the law and Cameron is aware of this yet still pays, then he has the nerve to lie (yet again), and tell the country that he is sending his daughter to a state school.
I’d say that not only is this illegal but the parents are knowingly breaking the law by paying!

I went to a grammar school (back in the days of the 11 plus) and it asked for donations from parents for the school fund. I don’t think it is – or ever has been – illegal for schools to ask for donations, it is only illegal to make them compulsory.
And my son’s primary school (in a very deprived area) was forever fundraising so that children whose parents could not afford school trips could be paid for from school funds.

Taking about posh British schools, Jeremy Clarkson, who was born in Doncaster, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, was sent by his parents to Repton Private Boarding School in Derbyshire, where the boarding fees are nearly £11,000 per term.
Perhaps foreshadowing his current predicaments, Jeremy Clarkson was expelled from Repton School for “drinking, smoking, and generally making a nuisance of himself… ” — Sounds about right…. His parents must have been utterly crestfallen… 🙂
