(not satire – it’s the UK today!)
An 11-year-old boy in Shepton Mallet – found guilty on numerous charges including violence, arson, criminal damage, theft, handing stolen goods, threatening behaviour and exposing himself in public – has told a magistrates court that he wants to be a bank manager when he grows up:
Boy, 11, tells court he wants to be a bank manager
I suspect there may have been a time – admittedly a long, long time ago – when being a banker may have been a good role model for a young person.
Now it seems bankers are only role models for thieves, hooligans and criminals.
Which – considering bankers have persistently stolen, lied and abused people for decades – is not, I suppose, all that surprising.

He’d waste his talents as a bank manager. I foresee a future in politics for a young man of such impressive calibre.

Presumably the pre-teen Al Capone thought that saying he wants to be a bank manager would impress the court with his determination to turn over a new leaf, and become a sober, respectable pillar of the community. If so, he’s waaaay out of date, as the bankers are now seen pretty much as capitalism’s robber barons.

Disgusting! Bad enough he has committed this terrible crime spree but he actually has the gall to tell the court he aspires to a life of crime of the worst kind?! I hope they threw the book at the little bastard! Lock him away for life, stop him becoming a bankster!!!!

This poor child has had to commit all of these crimes to show that he is ready and willing to become a banker. Social services won’t be able to help him, (do they help anyone?) – he needs to have daily appointments with a psychiatrist for the next 5 years at least, and preferably in a nice comfortable place where their are all the comforts he will need to help him through such aspirations. Poor boy…

That’s a lot of crime for an 11 -year old to have committed… imagine the length of his criminal CV by the time he gets to age 22 !! The magistrate should have reprimanded him sternly: “You do not aspire to be a bank manager, sonny jim… you are just A VERY NAUGHTY BOY!”
