Theresa May’s Tory government is taking away 900 specially adapted cars a week from disabled people.
These cars enable people with disablities – who are in wheelchairs, are blind, or who have difficulty in walking – to be independent, get to work, get to medical appointments etc.
But at the same time, Theresa May’s ministers are spending over £1.7 million a year on posh ministerial cars to ferry themselves around.
And that’s apart from the additional expenses ministers get on top of that from taxpayers, for taxis, rail travel and jaunts abroad etc.
It seems Theresa May thinks austerity is only for the plebs …

Typical Tory trash, the Tory government love to spend money, it’s just a pity they only spend tax payers money.

While I am disgusted at the injustice of this I am wondering how they “specially adapt” cars for blind people. Sounds a bit dangerous to me.

I understand that over 50,000 cars have been taken so far. However, I also understand that most of of the people who had these Free cars, already had a private car of their own prior to learning about these Free cars. My question therefore, Is. Was it fair that many should be given a free car, free petrol, free tax and insurance, when often they could not themselves drive, and the cars were used by other family members who often lived some way away and who used the cars as their own – to drive to work.

The only thing free is your lavish use of word association between “disabled” and “free”.

My heart breaks for the banks who underwrite this scheme. They are not able to cream off the profit made on taking someones D.L.A. allowance to finance this ‘free’ car.

To give some badly needed context…… The cost of ministerial cars for the year 2007/8 under a Labour government was slightly over £6 million. That makes the Tories look positively frugal, doesn’t it?

£1.7 million isn’t “millions” it would have to be over 2 million to be that, like the Labour government spending on cars.
[It’s not 1.7 million. It’s 1.7 million every year. Which is millions] – TOM

Perry525 you obviously don’t understand how the scheme works ,the cars are not free. Please Google motability for a better understanding of how the scheme works. Petrol is not included in the deal.

seeing as we are playing context (in reply to amanda)
1.7 million a year for 5 years is ? …correct more than labour spent ,but that was also a corrupt blair government and was also a tax rip off, something the politicians have made an art since thatcher changed the landscape to ”you do what we say not what we do”politics, which is vs of course true politics or ”is there anyone needs any help”
Look at todays set up of ‘we need to help ourselves first politics ,so we go first ,so there isnt anything left for you mugs that pay the money ,haha we now comfortably sit on and play god with your money as its ours’ and fire anger at the true faces of corruption instead of creepy crawly in any particular direction to defend a whole flat out ,full in your face, lying corrupt juggernaut called westminister…two sides is their free ticket .
We do need to help ourselves ..this is how they get away with it,,they however do not as its not an entitlement its a responsibility (anyone remember?)
The answer is unity of the sensible honest and start again,,unless (and this is the sore bit) there are only 6 of them left on earth as it appears to seem). 1 appears to be leading the labour party of today ,focus on that and if its another lie then focus on real people power…unity.
Or don’t and play comparisons of history in a nonsensical point scoring way
