Even cynical old me is a bit shocked by this.
Last year, BBC Panorama made an anti-Corbyn programme – Jeremy Corbyn Labour’s Earthquake – about the rise of Jeremy Corbyn’s popularity in what was called a hatchet job by Corbyn’s team.
But the programme was not actually made by the BBC. It was made by a private production company called Films of Record whose managing director and executive producer is a man called Neil Grant.
Another anti-Corbyn programme is aired this week on a different channel – Channel 4’s Dispatches. The programme – Battle for the Labour Party – is so anti-Corbyn, it prompted a written complaint to the producer about the programme’s “innaccuracies” and “slurs”.
But the programme was not made by Channel 4. It was also made by exactly the same private production company – Films of Record – whose managing director and executive producer is still someone called Neil Grant.
OK. So unknown to viewers, the same private production company is turning out supposedly impartial investigative anti-Corbyn documentaries for both the BBC and Channel 4.
But perhaps Films of Record – despite being a private company – really is run by professional investigative journalists and is completely impartial and unbiased?
Let’s see. Who is the managing director and executive producer, Neil Grant*?
Erm … just a former Brent East Labour Party chair who has had a 20-year political falling out with Ken Livingstone.
So no axe to grind there then.
.
It’s annoying stories like this which have prompted the idea for a new investigative organisation – TORCHLIGHT UK – which will be shining a light into the dark corners of the UK establishment, revealing hidden connections between UK politicians, the media and big business. Keep an eye out in the next few weeks on how you can help. We will be naming names.

Torchlight was the name of a now defunct publication / periodical. I think it was the anti- BNP group, but I might be wrong.
[You’re thinking of Searchlight. A searchlight would be much too big and clumsy to shine a light into the dark nooks and crannies we’ll be looking into.] – TOM

Please look into the British American Project. They don’t list their members on their website, but delegates include the (anti-JC) leader of Haringey Council and Christian May, the editor of City AM. Ruth Smeeth’s husband is a member, I assume she is too, but could be wrong, eh.

It will be an evening of Momentum bashing tonight – Mon 19th Sept 2016 – starting 7.25 pm, Channel 4, with the Dispatches programme, then 8.30 pm, BBC1, with Panorama: Labour: is the Party Over? – a programme made a year after the Neil Grant job. Both appear to feature Mark Sandell and the Brighton, Hove and District Labour Party +/- consent.
These programmes are being broadcast just 2 days before the ballot for the Labour leadership closes. I wonder why?

Think you are going to need a long torch Tom, the UK’s establishment connections between politicians, media and business has a secretive historical template.
I’ve been reading up on art and literature and its use in propaganda, at the moment I’m unhappily digging into the WW1 propaganda devised by the War Propaganda Bureau based at Wellington House which was so secret during WW1 many of Westminster’s MP’s didn’t know of its existence – in fact the bureau wasn’t known about publically until 1935. More than 20 writers and publishers (some famous e.g. Kipling, Doyle, Hardy, H. G. Wells) were secretly involved along with publishers such as Oxford University Press, Hodder & Stoughton, Methuen and Macmillan, the main aim was to ensure that no connections to official sources would be apparent.
The propaganda was coordinated by Charles Masterman (who had a ‘natural talent for spin’) but under the authority of Lord Beaverbrook, who was also the Minister of Information for a while and surprise, surprise the powerful owner of a number of newspapers.
They used those who could tell and draw a good story that had emotional impact, regardless of the veracity of the message. I see that Neil Grant praises himself with his story-telling qualities re his work with J Walter Thompson Entertainment: “We are both creative storytellers and have the same passion, ambition, rigour and boldness, with a commitment to engage in the best way with our audiences.
However well-made, an ad is a message delivered in seconds. A documentary is a different ball game. We have to make it compelling and attract large audiences. Our products are our contributors and we take them very seriously.
JWT shared its language and methodology of advertising that informed our own storytelling and the agency took away our secrets of long-form documentary.
So it suited us both. And it also suited the BBC. Without a BBC World News commission, there wouldn’t have been any platform to meet the ambition. This was a journey we took together, a match based on mutual respect.”

Unbelievable, or maybe not. They are terrified of Corbyn. They will go to any lengths to bad name him. They are underhanded, despicable, and without any level of integrity.

That was a bit of a coup, wasn’t it: Neil Grant getting two simultaneous contracts with two separate TV broadcasters and only needing to do one bit of research!

I have a friend who works in independent film and she recently took a job which she hated, but needed the money badly. She informed me that the public have lost all belief in regular film and tv advertising due to recent scandals involving Volswagen etc. So now the plan is to present adverts in the form of short documentary, a format known for its verit’e, the viewer puts their trust entirely into what seems a well researched piece, however, there is the underlying “Sell”. Just thought I would put this here in light of these anti – Corbyn propaganda “ADVERTS”, there I said it!

I see that as well as most of the Anti-Corbyn MP’s belonging to Labour Friends of Israel, Neil Grant is described by Jewish News as a Jewish film director. I wonder why Tel Aviv is so interested in the outcome of the Labour Leadership election. I couldn’t begin to explain it. Can anyone?

It must have been hard for Corbynistas to watch Dispatches and Panorama last night. My guess is (and speaking from experience) that was pretty mild stuff. Anyone wanting to properly expose Corbyn and his entryist stormtroopers would need a six part series. However half an hour was long enough to show any waverers what a corrupt and scurrolous bunch the Corbyn/Momentum camp are.

Right, here we are with that ever popular and disappointingly necessary game of “Spot the talentless Right wing shill.” They pop up everywhere, You can always spot them because they don’t answer other people’s comments and just weigh in ad nauseam with anti Corbyn diatribes. Usually repeating the same point over and over in slightly different words. Probably copied and pasted from comments on other articles under different names. Who do you think it is on this one Andy Harley?
