The mainstream media in the UK is desperately trying to convince everybody the suspect in the murder of Jo Cox MP was a mentally-ill misfit who acted alone.
But convincing evidence is being published outside the UK which shows Mair was such a long-term far-right political activist he was known even to the FBI for his political activities.
A paid FBI informer who infiltrated far-right groups in the UK in the late 1990s and early 2000s has revealed he had several meetings with Mair and other far-right UK activists who were at the time making links with US extremists.
The US based Southern Poverty Law Centre has also published two letters by Mair to a far-right publication which show he was lucid and extremely clear in his hatred of what he refers to as “white liberals and traitors”.
The letters are reproduced here:
These letters show Mair is not mentally ill, but a far-right political activist prepared to wage a “bloody struggle” in support of his vile views.
In other words, a terrorist.

Some interesting research into “lone actor terrorism” was published earlier this year, by RUSI, Chatham House and the University of Leyden. The paper was based on a review of single actor or small groups engaged in planning for or carrying out terrorist acts.
Far right extremism accounted for a third of all terror-related activity across Europe during the period of study. While Brevik obviously skews the data quite heavily, even excluding him from the data still leaves far-right terror second behind religiously motivated terrorism.
Mental health disorders were found in 28% of far-right terrorists, though the report suggested this was much the same as in the general population. However,
social isolation plays a much larger role with these individuals. Across the whole dataset 29% of terrorists were socially isolated, while this figure increased to 33% for the far-right – and only 9% of religiously inspired terrorists were found to be socially isolated.
What this suggests is that far-right lone-actor terrorists may be prone to mental health disorders (as are a significant proportion of the total population), or social isolation – but that these are not the reason why they act.
The paper can be found here https://www.chathamhouse.org/sites/files/chathamhouse/publications/research/2016-02-29-lone-actor-terrorism-analysis-paper-rusi.pdf

Not sure it’s ‘suspiciously’ well written – smacks of someone wishing to appear well educated – e.g use of ‘worse’ in second letter….

If we are to now understand that the FBI, and therefore presumably MI5, were aware of this man as early as the late 1990s and early 2000s, would it then be possible to accept that the “False Flag’ suggestions may not be quite so ridiculous after all?

To assert that an ability to write lucidly is proof of somebody’s mental health shows a complete ignorance of mental health issues. Secondly, the letters were written in the 1990s and so are no proof of his state of mental health many years later. Thirdly, what makes you think that somebody who is mentally ill cannot carry out an act of terror?

Strictly speaking yes, but it would be impossible for the police and CPS to pursue every minor blogger who says something prejudicial. Although this blog is in the Daily Mail style, it’s not in that league.

I’m glad we’ve cleared up he has always been an extremist and was not suddenly driven violently insane because of the 2016 referendum. Will Straw will be hugely disappointed he will be unable to tar 50% of the UK population with the same brush.

I don’t think a lot of people will be surprised by this. I am hopping mad that the msm are trying to pin all of this on mental health issues or the coming EU referendum as this was done by an evil man who wanted to do something like this.
Poor Jo Cox 😥 was denied the right to live and the right to have her own beliefs by a “man” who only wanted his beliefs heard.

Are you kidding??? In what warped universe do you think killing an innocent woman is a reasonable way to get your beliefs heard?

Writing letters does not disprove he was a loner. So far we have evidence he bought some stuff via mail order from right wing organisations, bought magazines and wrote letters – all activities that does not preclude one from being a loner. My own suspicions are that he was likely mentally ill, and influenced by the far right, and likely a loner, or at least lonely.

John – if you are aware of history, you’ll also know that in every conflict there are underlying or background factors and then there are triggers. If you deny that the poisonous tone of the referendum debate (from both sides, I might add) would have had no effect on someone carrying these convictions, you are being wilfully ignorant.

Delia – whatever made you respond to jaypot like that? I’m sure that if you read the comment again, you will realise just how grossly you misinterpreted it.
Jaypot clearly meant “a man who wanted to silence people whose beliefs were different from his own”.

More material from Hatewatch and the Southern Poverty Law Centre showing that far from being a mad loner, Mair was a long time Nazi activist. This adds more to the information published a few days ago by Hope Not Hate on how Mair had been a member of the South African expatriate Springbok club, which supported Apartheidm and had bought about $600 worth of books from the publishing arm of the National Alliance on how to build home-made guns and ammunition. Whatever his supporters might say to the contrary, it’s clear that Mair didn’t suddenly snap. He’d clearly been contemplating something like this for a very long time.

@ vondreassen – Jo Cox was on her way to her MP surgery, which was scheduled and made public for her constituents to attend. She arrived seven minutes early and Mair was already waiting. He probably targeted her because she was local and very outspoken in support of Syrian refugees.

In response to the previous response about evidence or not of mental illness. The letters show a clear thinking individual. They indicate ordered thoughts that are applying logic and cognisance. There is evidence of emotional stability and spontaneity. This is clear evidence of mental health within normal range. There is no evidence of any mental health issue. His bizarre and extreme conclusions don’t indicate a mental health issue. They are simply his conclusion. Hitler reveals similarly in his writings particularly his letters. We must conclude that at least at the time of the letter writing the subject was not mentally ill.

Rob – You’ve just made the entire psychiatric profession redundant in just one paragraph! All they need to do is send you two brief letters from their patients and you can diagnose them. I’m VERY impressed. You should get a Nobel prize for that.

Hold on, these letters are from the 1990’s, but Alan Harvey whose magazine published the letters issued a statement (quoted here in the Huffington Post http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/tommy-thomas-mair-far-right_uk_5763a3c2e4b0a4f99adbaad4) that “apart from brief contact way back in the mid-1980s when he briefly subscribed to our magazine we have had no contact with him. All attempts to try to link him to our magazine during more recent years are therefore completely without foundation.”
No contact since the mid-1980s yet publishing letters in the 1990s – Has anyone else picked up on this?
