(not satire – it’s the Daily Telegraph!)

The Telegraph claimed* yesterday that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un supports Scottish independence.

Some people might think this kind of story shows the desperation of the NO campaign in its bid to discredit the case for Scottish independence, but here at Pride’s Purge we think reporting on the opinions of world dictators is an important and useful addition to the independence debate.

So that’s why we’ve done a detailed survey of other dictators to see what they think of Scottish independence.

Here are the results:

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia – NO

Kim Jong-un of North Korea – YES

President Putin of Russia – NO

President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan – DON’T KNOW

Li Keqiang of the People’s Republic of China – NO

President Mugabe of Zimbabwe – DON’T KNOW

Ayatullah Ali Khamenei of Iran – YES

So excluding DON’T KNOWS – this important new poll shows a CLEAR MAJORITY of world dictators support the NO campaign.

Someone should tell the Telegraph.

*As far as I’m aware, the Daily Telegraph is still supposed to be a real newspaper, not a parody of political satire. ‘News’ stories like this make me wonder if it hasn’t missed its calling.
