Etienne was sent to jail not for begging, but for contempt of a behviour order. Had it been for begging, then a campaign is easily organised. However, he wqas jailed for ignoring an order from court. I can’t rememeber who it was, but someone when writing about the hollocaust coined the phrase “The banality of evil”

I’d say “unbelivable” but it’s not anymore. What we must continue to be is outraged.

Tory caught with child porn, says it all really. The only silver side to this particular black cloud is that the beggar while in prison will have a roof over his head, three meals and any medical treatment and medicines he needs. The Tory Party is, and always has been, stuffed full with paedophiles.

But being in prison will, on release, leave him still homeless, and having a record will make it harder to get accommodation and work. So not really a silver lining.

@ Bill Hayes. Banality of evil was Hannah Arendt who I think interviewed Adolf Eichmann in Israel before his execution.

The flip side of this is that if you are an old former Tory councillor then a strong message to others will be sent out that you will be treated extremely leniently if engaging in the same behaviour.

but if you locked up Con – Servative councillor he would only face the inmates who would give him hell, outside no one in their right mind would anything to do with him but he should be made to wear a bright yellow suit with his crimes on it a report to the police ever hour in 24 hours! Don’t tell me about human rights, or being sick, in the mind, he has forsaken them ,and hurt others, but what else do you expect with that sort man who allegedly has a leader with a sick mind over the people of the UK.
