A heavily pregnant young woman is being evicted just before Christmas by her landlord – who is a vicar:
‘Heartless’ Cornish vicar is evicting a heavily pregnant teen just before Christmas
The woman, 19-year old Lily Simmons, was given an eviction notice by her private landlord the Rev Ian Livingstone after she complained about mould and damp at her home.
Rev Livingstone is clearly one parish short of a diocese. He’s already proven his tin-foil-hat level of loopiness by once complaining to a local school about how it was causing “mental harm” to pupils by teaching them about faiths other than Christianity.
Obviously Loopy Livingstone thinks learning about other faiths is more damaging to children than being homeless.
We’re back squarely in Dickensian times ..

It was a Tory landlord who led the talking out of the bill to stop exactly this type of revenge eviction. The Opposition Bill would have succeeded if the govt had indicated it supported the aims, but, no they used the typical cowards version of passive aggression to make it fail. The mad vicar is more evidence, if needed, of the importation of USA ideas and values, to go with the destruction of the welfare state.

I don’t think he’s a vicar; there’s no record of his even being licensed in the diocese of Truro, let alone having charge of a parish.
ETA In fact he’s a Baptist minister. Some nonconformist clergy do have some rather quaint attitudes to spiritual diversity and Christian charity at the best of times, and this guy seems to be cast in the same mould.
I’m sure concerns about his behaviour (Christian charity, dragging the Church into disrepute, that kind of thing) could be raised with the Baptist Union centrally

That’s just what this country needs to get it back on its cheese & tomato sandwich.
Is it cocoa time yet Mary?
It wasn’t like this before the war you know!

Christian churches and sects has been as brutal as Muslims over centuries comparing to Stalin and Chairman Mao. The Jews have always been victim until trying to stand up for themselves in recent decades. Religions have been more responsible for the persecution of women and the abuse of children than secular ideologies in recent times along with tribalism

Interesting that he & his wife were served a section 21 notice to leave their rented accommodation at end of July, 2015 in order to comply with a Court order. They didn’t leave & are still living at the “property”. Neither a man of God or his word it seems.

He didn’t throw the woman out for endangering herself, her baby & his property, only after her reporting his negligence….so he LIES.
Whats this about a gas card? Surely he is not allowed access to the property when the woman is not there.
Perhaps she can sue him as well. that would be poetic justice.

of course he is not a ‘Vicar’, he is a minister to an independent congregational church, answerable to his congregation only

And here I thought the US has a solid lock on reactionary Christian religious lunacy! After all, the President of Liberty University here is Virginia, founded by Rev Jerry Falwell, just encouraged all of his students to take the free, university offered, concealed hand gun permit class and to arm themselves. That may be even a little more than Dickensian!
