There have been certain milestones on our decade-long descent into government cruelty, austerity madness and widespread intolerance under the Tories (and the Liberal Democrats).
Terminal cancer patients being forced to work, sick children starving or disabled people being made destitute or even dying while billionaires get handouts and tax cuts.
Well, here’s another milestone.
A homeless man has just been jailed in Somerset for the heinous crime of sitting on the ground:
Homeless man jailed for 20 weeks for sitting on the ground ‘without reasonable excuse’
Tory (and Lib Dem) Britain today.
Aktion t4 rolling along without much of a ado. Only following orders

Sick, Tory Britain.
Hopefully, as the Nasty Party falls apart, an end is in sight to their cruelty.

@Terry He was in breach of a previously imposed community order – that’s why the sentence seems extreme. He wasn’t actually jailed for 20 weeks just for sitting on the ground. Harsh either way was but a bit more nuanced than the papers headline suggests.

In a strange sort of way, I hope he might get some help & support whilst in jail, at least a bed & regular meals & a routine.
But I’m not too sure about that either.

What is he supposed to do – stand up for 24 hours at a time? De-materialise himself? What?

Sorry, we’ve got to stop pretending this is just a Tory outrage. Derby City Centre is Margaret Beckett’s turf and we have a Labour Police and Crime Commissioner. They love this shit and there are regular articles proudly listing who’s been banned from large parts of the city – some for years. A recent example is here: https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/derby-news/photos-show-dozens-people-banned-2753729 Hardyal, Margaret, Chris W: Hot Fuzz was a dystopian comedy film not a bloody instruction manual!
