In 2013 the Tories sold off the state owned NHS blood plasma supplier, Plasma Resources UK (PRUK) to US private equity firm Bain Capital for £230 million.
It’s now been revealed that the US firm has sold on the NHS plasma supply company – now renamed Bio Products Laboratory – to Chinese state-owned firm Creat for £830 million.
Which means the hapless Tories have managed to cost the UK taxpayer £590 million – while at the same time ensuring essential supplies of plasma to UK patients are now in the hands of the Chinese government.
But of course the NHS is safe in Theresa May’s hands …

Bain Capital I seem to recall was, or is, associated with Mitt Romney. However, the £600 million difference has gone to them from the Chinese. I don’t see how it has cost the NHS that sum.

No they haven’t (Oh yes they have. See here: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2013/aug/25/uk-blood-plasma-company-sale-nhs-supplies ) and posts like this risk deterring blood donors from giving blood. The company (the state-owned NHS company!)“Plasma resources ltd” has been sold (erm … so the NHS plasma supplies has been sold then?) but they produce blood derived products from plasma originating from the USA where people are paid to donate blood. NO UK blood is used in the manufacture of those products (but only because UK blood is banned at the moment because of the threat from Mad Cow disease). I’ve seen comments from people on various posts like this saying they will now no longer donate blood when the information they have been fed by articles like this is inaccurate and dangerous.

…and they DO NOT supply plasma to the NHS. I think your wording (“blood plasma supplier” etc. ) is either deliberately designed to deceive readers, or you don’t understand what plasma is.

Meanwhile the NHS are investing more of our cash on Twitter ads aimed at stocking up dwindling reserves from ignorant people deceived into thinking their blood & plasma is for the benefit of fellow citizens.

This is absolutely dreadful.The blood is given for nothing by British donors. WHy are we only hearing about it now and which Government was responsible for selling to the American firm? We will wake up one morning and find the NHS gone

Not so simple. The Department of Health sold just 80% of Plasma Resources to Bain for £230m, and retained a 20% stake. At the time time it was losing taxpayers’ money, so selling it made sense, as it reduced the burden on the state. Bain invested £50m in the company and made it profitable, meaning that the DoH benefited. Creat bought the 80% stake for £820m, and the Department of Health’s stake is now worth approx £100m instead of £30m.

The NHS is not a business and should not be run to make a profit. The Tories are simply criminal and traitors, especially for selling vital and life-saving services to businesses overseas. Why did the thieving bastards sell to a foreign business…must be because someone in the government took a bribe.

Nothing is safe with Teresa may. As a normal torie she hasn’t a clue what real life is all about . She hasn’t had to work 50 hrs a wk to keep a roof over her families head . She hasn’t ever struggled on the bread line. She don’t have any children to have to use a food bank and she don’t know what it’s like to be disabled .. she is a typical torie think of herself not British people . The quicker they are voted out the better otherwise more disabled deaths etc and back to victorian times with work houses .karma will come round and I hope it rips everything from her .then she will know what reality is all about .. what’s good for the rich is 10x more worse for the poor bcuz our taxes are paying for the rich ..

Sorry but this isn’t logic. The uk would only have lost money if it had got an offer from the chinese which it did not and refused Iit. The plasma has been sold and fetched a price. The writer does not appear to be in agreement about selling it in the first place so he has cost the uk 230 million pounds.

There has been 4 year difference since the company was first sold off to America in 2013. We are now in 2017. This means that in those four years, the company that was sold off to America could have changed drastically especially if it had a lot more research and development it did not originally have. It’s not the Tory’s fault the company was sold for 230 million.

Selling our plasma to the highest bidder when you think it couldn’t get worse with Tories it does. You are trying to destroy our UK selling most of land & property off. You will have nowhere for Drs and Nurses live for London Hospitals. You broke human rights law twice as documented. So clearly you think you can use the law to suit yourselves power crazy & mega wrong decisions. Northern Ireland is a red flag area but you don’t care as long as you have the majority.
