It’s here!
The opportunity to cast your vote for the person or persons most responsible for the brutal death of satire in 2016.
Nominations for the most shamelessly breathtaking use of hypocrisy in politics – in a particularly strong field this year – are as follows:
- Donald Trump and Nigel Farage for announcing a “fightback against the global elite” from the inside of a gold-clad elevator.
- Daniel Hannan for claiming he wants to give £350 million-a-week to something he wants to abolish.
- Theresa May for announcing Britain will become a “global leader of free trade” by leaving the biggest free trade block in the world.
- The Sun for accusing the EU referendum campaign of being “nasty, cynical, personally abusive” and “deceitful”.
- Boris Johnson for managing to get away with both opposing and supporting membership of the EU.
- The Daily Mail for complaining about the spread of fake news.
Cast your vote here:

Winner to be announced next week.

“Righties”! in general for accusing us of the left of rewriting history, spinning facts, cover ups and “sate” censorship etc, Yet when they set up a blog site with a rightwards lean, will not publish reasonable, even humorous comments from this moderate, pragmatic lefty, ironic or what?

that’s not including the labour party – biggest hypocrite of the last 20 years – purportedly the party of ‘the people’ – it is now the party of the 171 – 171 neocon labour MPs who should really be in the tory party cos they don’t give a shit about anybody else

On reflection, I will nominate Daniel Hannan, mainly because I was in the US when he did his infamous interview about the NHS on Fox News, and I saw the effect it had on the people in the room with me in relation to Obamacare. I clearly remember how I had to explain to them why he was so wrong and actually telling lies. And for him to go on in the referendum run up, to claim £350 million for the “NHS relic” was actually quite breathtaking.

or how about the FA for still denying any culpability in the Hillsborough disaster
or
the usa for believing that Aleppo is still being bombed by the Russians
or
the British government for claiming it cares about the British people that it wants to put an MP in each of our homes to make us feel safe

Not what I would call a “hypocrite”, but he did seem in the eyes of some to enjoy a charmed life in academia for a decade or more, whilst he tweeted c 100 times per day, and sometimes disparagingly about everything from Hillsborough to overweight benefit claimants and Charlotte Church; surely the world of twitter mourns the seeming deactivation of that Tory Titan of the keyboard @screwlabour, now that he is apparently having to exist and work in the “real world”

The “Breuxitearfuls” take some beating, bleating about wanting to restore “Parliamentary Sovereignty” then criticising Gina Miller & Co for pursuing a justifiable and highly constitutionally significant court action that has “Parliamentary Sovereignty” at its core…By the way come 1st April 2017 the Article 50 notification will be winging its way to Europe.
