UPDATE: Victory! Zac’s now been forced to resign.
London disability charity Richmond AID has issued a strongly worded statement criticising local MPs who voted to support cuts to help for disabled people:
“We are shocked and disappointed to find that both our local MPs in the borough of Richmond have voted for this cut ...”
What the charity doesn’t mention in the statement however, is that one of those two local Richmond MPs who voted for the cuts is Tory Mayor of London hopeful Zac Goldsmith, MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston.
Who also happens to be … erm …one of Richmond Aid‘s own patrons:
Surely it couldn’t be that Zac was just paying lip service to charidy?
.
Here’s the statement in full from the charity:

You have to remember that all parliamentary candidates those for Mayor for Police Commissioners etc will need significant financial support and individuals on the ground and tis does not come cheap. This means that in exchange for the financial help and door knocking support candidates are expected to support the sponsoring party political organisation… you don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Totally disgusting taking disability allowance of ♿ people, do you think they chose to be unfortunate, like they don’t feel bad enough they can’t do thing’s normal people can do because of there disabilities and yous r taking there only money of them what they need because they can’t work… All yous care about are the rich it’s a true saying the rich get richer the poor get poorer why not take money of the rich who can afford it instead of taking of the poor yous really disgust me…the sooner Cameron is away the better because this country is a mess because of him and it’s going to get worse as long as he’s about would love to see him living on benefits for a month and see how he manages the one with that much money in the bank,, dirty money. I hope this petition gets enough signatures to help… Rant over!!!

Zac Goldsmith is such a hypocrite…may I suggest that charity kicks him out..If he can’t stand for the disabled then he’s not fit to be a member. ..another self serving tory.

My brother has just had his disability benefit stopped so is now £300 a month worse off. He now has to give up his car, his only means of getting around as he can’t walk more than a few yards. He has difficulty going upstairs so has been sleeping on his settee, washing at his kitchen sink and using the outside loo. He is at the bottom of the list for a bungalow to make his life a bit easier. This country has well and truly gone to pot and is gradually going back to Victorian times.
