(not satire – it’s the Cameron government!)
Here are some of the strong words that were used in parliament today – by both Tory and Labour MPs – to describe David Cameron, Michael Gove and William Hague’s failed efforts to unseat the speaker John Bercow:
Grubby, squalid, nauseous, mean-spirited, humiliating, underhand, spiteful
Well yes.
But has it really taken all this time for MPs in the House of Commons to notice?
Because for some of us, all of those words sum up perfectly not just the last day, but the entire last 5 years of the Cameron/Clegg government.
Actually, two other words spring to my mind to describe Cameron’s actions today, which also happen to describe his government perfectly:
NASTY and INCOMPETENT
.
For a full explanation of the complicated constitutional “jiggery pokery” that went on today, here’s the Guardian’s political editor Patrick Wintour on the whole sorry spectacle:
Tory backbench rebellion defeats Hague’s attempt to unseat Speaker

Not deserve this vote well done John respect you have earned it
This also confirms they are and always have been the nasty party
Lets face it any one that would deliberately attack the sick and disabled
And dying are not fit to govern a country not now not ever!

Well, the Conservatives didn’t win that one on the last day – and I mean, the LAST DAY as they won’t get back in again. *smiles a proper smile for what seems like, erm, must be about, erm, 5 years ago…

Appropriate that this government’s last parliamentary session should be dominated by a piece of nastiness – that is how they started, and how most of the intervening time has been filled.

Go look at Bercows death stare at Hague, just the vote is read out. quite a few versions on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBtFR5RkE-s — also well done to Charles Walker MP, who stood up to the bullies in His own party and went after Hague and his henchmen.

Tom Pride points out that the pejorative terms used to describe Cameron’s attempt to force out Bercow actually describe the Prime Minister and his government.

Wake up! Were the Labour government years before that any different, or the Tories before that? And does anyone seriously expect anything better in the next 5 years, irrespective of the outcome of the election?

Current politicians have succeeded and continue in their success in being:
…Grubby, squalid, nauseous, mean-spirited, humiliating, underhand, spiteful …
By all parties in the media eye continuing austerity cuts, and welfare and pension reform that is more about abolition of the welfare state and state pension.
In 2016 Universal Credit and the flat rate state pension mean
NIL FOOD MONEY by permanent sanctions and
NIL STATE PENSION FOR LIFE
for the unemployed and part time workers just the same.
Half the over 60s are within the working poor and only have the state pension as pension provision (state pension payable if remain in work or not).
See why, at end of my petition, in my WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT section, at:
https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/state-pension-at-60-now
PARTIES OF THE POOR SHUT OUT OF THE MEDIA
Even the 6th biggest party in the UK,
Trade Unionist and Socialsit Coalition (TUSC) i
is denied any coverage by the national press or TV news.
This despite TUSC running 125 MP candidates in the general election, and TUSC councillors already in councils ALWAYS vote against austerity cuts every time.
TUSC is also running 1000 councillor candidates in the 6000 council elections on the same day as the general election, Thursday 7 May.
THE POOR NOW OUTNUMBER ALL OTHER VOTERS
TUSC is running in many Tory and Lib Dem marginals, where the poor voter, in or out of work, of all ages, far outnumber the votes that got the sitting Tory or Lib Dem MP into the job in 2010.
In passing, a political journalist stated that the Tories have not won outright since 1992.
If the poor knew about TUSC then they would deliver far more than the mere
1 Green MP we already have, into MPs in government.
This is the sole way to shut the Tories out of poor.
Why?
HUNG PARLIAMENT MEANS PARTIES OF THE POOR
WILL HAVE MORE POWER THAN ANY OTHER GOVERNMENT
The experts pundits predict the most severe hung parliament in UK history, with neither Tory nor Labour winning.
Even with the SNP in Scotland, Labour will not get sufficient votes to rule in government even with SNP as a partner party in an arm’s length coalition called support and confidence.
Labour will not get the poor vote, who are tens of millions today.
-Working poor, all ages
– Poor pensioners
– Poor disabled
– Over 60s denied state pension and facing nil state pension for life
PARTIES OF THE POOR
– Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC)
mostly ex Labour who left or were expelled from the Labour party
for going against austerity cuts.
– Mebyon Kernow
Cornwall has single figure votes that got the sitting Tory or Lib Dem MPs into those seats.
MK is running in every Cornwall voting area.
– Class War
Double dole and pension
Running where TUSC is not.
Mostly in London and rest of England.
Socialist GB
The 1 Green MP is Brighton Pavilions.
But Brighton has several voting areas.
Example where poor outnumber all other voters:
BRIGHTON KEMPTOWN
MP Candidate:
Socialist (GB) Jacqueline Shodeke
Claimant Count 9360
Tory majority 1328
