In a local debate about energy, Victoria Ayling, UKIP’s Grimsby candidate, said:
“What happens when renewable energy runs out?”

Ayling has clearly been reading up on the evils of Wind Farms on the UKIP environment spokesman, Dr Earth aka Andrew Charalambous’, website

According to Dr Earth “Apart from devastating the view of serenity and breathtaking scenery of our countryside the rotating blades kill and maim countless of innocent birds even from protected species. Moreover, wind farms emit grotesquely disturbing noise pollution which petrifies so many small animals causing them to abandon their historical habitat. In addition, the various oils and greases used by the turbines contribute to the imbalance of our ecosystems.”
My question is “what happens to satire when UKIP implodes?”

it’s ok, forecasters predict renewable energy won’t run out until @ least 2085…after that wave and wind energy will replace it…

wind farms et al are not sustainable developments for those very reasons, plus the construction materials, the construction and what is plugged in @ the other end….
conservation/perma culture is by far the best method, live lightly….live life @ walking pace ie travel by shanks’ pony or @ wheel chair pace… http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2008/mar/23/freiburg.germany.greenest.city

I’ve just been sat at my desk for the last twenty seconds, just staring at this headline, with my lower jaw nearer the floor than my top jaw.
Every time I think I’ve heard the peak of stupid from UKIP, they prove me wrong.

Two problems with this candidate which reinforce how incredibly stupid she is:
Firstly she shows that the traditional rhyme is still apposite ” Lincolnshire born and Lincolnshire bred, strong in the arm and weak in the ed”.
Whilst secondly supporting UKIP condemns her to the ranks of the terminally stupid.
Enough said.

To be fair to UKIP, wind farms look hideous. If they made them look like windmills it wouldn’t look so bad.

I agree with Thomas, they are really unsightly and they do destroy the landscapes, as well as destroying so much wildlife. Windmills would look so much better and we could encourage wildlife to settle in such places.
As for the Ukip idiot – what can I say? Duh?

I think I agree with you that we should be living life at a much slower pace. Everything is so fast these days that nobody really has time to consider what we might be doing to the environment, the ecology, the wildlife and the other humans on the planet. I think the problem is that human beings can never seem to find the middle path to anything.

True, beast but stupid evil people are stupid, where as evil evil people are tyrants and need disposing of immediately ,stupid ones can be directed at a later date off the nearest cliff top , probably looking for used renewable energy 🙂

This is really a Prof Brian Cox question. Tidal power will be available until the moon no longer controls the tides (a few million years) and solar power will last long after we have all disappeared well before the sun turns into a red giant (a few billion or so) and the Earth gets fried. Point is, Victoria Ayling will have disappeared long before we (she and UKIP) run out of wind!
Mind you, could be an interesting question to ask the other candidates at the hustings….

YMMV on the aesthetic charms of modern wind turbines, but I’m damn certain they’re nicer to look at than a smoke belching coal-fired power station with it’s surounding coalyards
