(not satire – it’s the Uk today!)
No wonder the private company which took over the NHS Hinchingbrooke hospital has failed.
The company – which is run by bankers and hedge fund investors – has been wasting massive amounts of the hospital’s money on useless things like Tory MPs.
Circle Holdings – which has announced it is running away from its contract at Hinchingbrooke – was paying Tory MP Mark Simmonds £50,000 a year to work just 10 hours a month as a “strategic adviser”.
Just a thought but, perhaps if the bankers in charge of Hinchingbrooke had spent more time, money and effort on their patients instead of on their mates in the Tory Party, the hospital wouldn’t have been given the worst rating possible in the damning Care Quality Commission report published yesterday:
Hinchingbrooke patients told to soil themselves, Care Quality Commission hears

Tory MP’s would see nothing out of the ordinary, with one being ordered to shit ones self…Eton Mess, a trifle overrated in my opinion…bankers and wankers “because I’m worth it”….

The Irony is too that the Local MP was disappointed in the Morning of the 9th January, proclaiming that Circle had done an excellent job….claiming too that the funding wasn’t the main issue but patients being ill was the problem….. since the CQC report sent HInchingbrooke from a Top 4 hospital when run by the NHS to one at the bottom of the pile…..
Now History shows that Hinchingbrooke has been underfunded ALL of it 30 years of operational use, many under the leadership of Douglas Pattison to the recent “interim” bunch of wasters who have sloped in and out when they have seen the sums don’t add up. Hinchingbrooke was regarded as a “Failing” hospital (ONLY on finance) when Patricia Hewitt was Sec of State for Health. Labour with Andy Burnham at the helm of Health dept….followed an already agreed process to see if there was a way to get the historic debt (£38 million…this will make sense in a minute) down or reduced. Sadly, I think Labour took their eye off the ball on this one and left the Tory ideologues at the PCT and SHA this way to interpret what was needed and the best for Hinchingbrooke. Now….as we have 20 miles away a Parasite NHS Foundation Trust called Addenbrookes where cash and control is uttermost and Peterborough Hospital is seen as a second class place, it left Hinchingbrooke as a very poor cousin, but one which is relied upon….a great deal.
The SHA/PCT used Hinch as an experiment, trying first to close it, then they enforced this contract on us local folks. What Labour wanted and expected that the SHA/PCT would partner Hinch with Peterborough or Addenbrookes….. sadly Peterborough was wrapped up in a new hospital plan and Addenbrookes didn’t give a shit….hence where Private Health providers were “allowed” in….. GE 2010 came and Tories Bullied their way into number 10 and the Tory SHA pressed on and were essentially conned by Ali Parsa into preferring Circle to come on board.
The rest is History…. 2012 they begun …Dec 2012 Parsa walked away with £400K …then its been staff cutting, Staff bullying and a lick of paint since then,,,,
Now….back to the £38 million debt…… The idea the SHA had was to give Circle a 10% more funding level, which in essence was £100 million over the 10 years…… do the sums and they also get to pocket…. £62 million if they play the game right….like regular patient throughput etc. and the debt is paid off and the private sector is the saviour…
Needless to say the NHS funding has a funny criteria with throughput in A&E where the munneeee falls and the funding drops…needless to say Circle are citing the 10% reduction in funding as the reason for them leaving…….
In essence….. Circle left when the funding ended up the same as the NHS management had at the hospital…..yet they managed in 2 years to drag the hospital down to the lowest point in it’s history…..
The locals now have a Public meeting this coming Wednesday to get the Hospital back into the NHS……and one proposal is for the community to manage the place…..you never know….

FYI – Hinchingbrooke was privatised by the Labour government, not by the Tories. Andy Burnham was health secretary at the time and will presumably get the job again if Labour win the next election. If you don’t want NHS privatisation then who the hell can you vote for?
