The coalition government has confirmed today that all privatised passenger rail services across the UK are to be consolidated and become part of the Bisto Gravy division.
The move comes not long after it was revealed that – despite UK passenger rail tickets being the most expensive in Europe and rising – private rail companies still receive £4 billion a year in subsidies from the British taxpayer.
In a press conference, Transport Minister Patrick McLoughlin confirmed the news;
“For many many years now, privatised passenger rail services across the UK have been a gravy train for the private rail companies running them. That’s why today, we’ve decided to make it official.”
