Cheap shot. Clearly some people wanted rid of Mitchell. Mr Justice Mitting’s judgement is clearly flawed. Inconsistencies between what was in the notebook and the length of the video footage too, mean Mitchell should appeal. For Mitting to imply that Rowland, an officer with some length of service in the diplomatic protection unit, was too stupid and too much of a pleb to have ever even heard the word ‘pleb’ beggars belief. The only lesson to be learned is that juries should always be used in libel trials. When did the law change to abolish jury trials in libel cases?
