(not satire – it’s the UK today)
The rise of UKIP into the mainstream is allowing some very dark forces to feel emboldened enough to come out of the shadows.
Here’s a party political broadcast on behalf of the United Kingdom Independence Party by one of their supporters.
Be afraid – very afraid (if only of the hairstyle):

No need to be afraid. There is likely to be a realignment in UK politics as follows: A UKIP+ party consisting of UKIP plus right wing Tories, a centre right party the remaining Tories plus market believing Lib Dems such as Nic Clegg, Alexander etc, left of centre Labour, left of centre Lib Dems, left greens, left SNP and welch and NI parties. This will lead to coalitions being a permanent feature of UK POLITICS, something most European countries have had for many years. It looked pretty good in Borgen but that wasn’t real life.
I have no idea how this will pan out but if Scotand doesn’t get independence the soft left., left will be pretty strong.

Certainly not a UKIP release. more like National Front.
Stupid imbecile who has been poorly educated and is probably too simple to see that he has been brainwashed in the same manner as the Islamic fundamentalists.

There’s a fundamental misunderstanding in this item; there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest (much less prove) that this has anything to do with UKIP. As such, one can only assume that it has been put together by the person running the site; one of a number who wonder why the Labour Party is losing votes.. I can’t even say “nice try”. Pathetic.

I am a UKIP supporter – a couple of points: 1. They did not actually say they were a supporter? 2. I reported their threats to Crime Stoppers via the online form.

It had to happen sooner or later. The Tories have been waiting to push through their Thatcherite, neoliberal ideology since they were trounced in ’97. They thrive on divide and conquer, they vilify the vulnerable and exalt the rich. This is leading to fringe elements becoming more open and acceptable. Hence UKIP and those that will vote for them in May 15. It doesn’t help to classify people as fascist, bigot or rascist even if they may be. The reality is that they will vote for UKIP as the only alternative to mainstream politics. Infighting in Labour and the belligerent refusal by Brown to step down, plus voter apathy at the last election lead to the ConDems. The old “first past the post” democracy is dead and useless. Politics in Britain (Patronage and cronyism) needs to be transformed for the modern age and sooner rather than later. Coalitions will be the new politics and Britain had better embrace it before the radicals get there first past the post.

There’s no evidence at all that this is from UKIP. Calling it a party political broadcast on behalf of that party is practically fraudulent.

That statement is just plain wrong. There’s no evidence on this video that this guy is a supporter or that his broadcast is on their behalf. Just because he says party A might win an election, it doesn’t follow that he supports it.
I like your posts, but please don’t fall into the same holes of spin and scaremongering that you do such a good job of combatting…

Tony there is absolutely no evidence that this person speaks on behalf of UKIP, but UKIP’S message aligns with his thinking, which he makes plain enough.
Ukip is a dangerous party, the sooner people see what sort of people they attract, the better.

Mervyn – Spot on. I’ve heard the same kind of thing repeated in factory canteens many, many times. That hasn’t really changed over the last few decades or more. The scary difference is that now a mainstream UK party with a prospect of significant political power has a deliberate policy of using this xenophobia to get elected.

Tony – I agree with you, but Tom has decided that the best way to combat a false establishment narrative is with an opposite narrative, even it it’s also false or dubious. To quote him… “Objectivity will not defeat false narratives”. Maybe that’s a philosophy which will get some results, but I can’t subscribe to it, and I think it will ultimately fail.

Wow, I came back to read this and see what other comments have been left. Some of them amaze me. The ignorance is outstanding. Those of you linking this sort of attitude with UKIP are either very stupid, utterly ignorant, or are using it in a vain attempt to support their political stance. Ridiculous!

Disingenuous scaremongering based on very little evidence. I refer, of course, to the ’29 million immigrants flooding the country on January 1st’ implication made by Mr Fartage. In his case it results in more votes and being treated like a celebrity. In Tom Prides case, vilification and flying dummies abound.
