The Prince of Wales has warned that the majority of people have “lost any real connection with Prince Charles” as he outlined his concerns about the future of His Royal Highness.
Charles, writing in a foreword for Country Life magazine to mark his 66th birthday this week, argued that many people were four or more generations removed from the heir to the throne, and it showed in their attitudes.
“One of the things that strikes me most forcibly is the extent to which the majority of the population has lost any real connection with me,” the Prince of Wales wrote.
“They have only a vague understanding of what being a future heir to the throne is or does; and, as outsiders looking in, they are increasingly suspicious of it.”
“Many people in the UK are now four or more generations removed from anyone who is actively a member of the Royal Family – and it frequently shows in their attitudes.”
Charles urged people to value the Royal Family, and its long list of princes, princesses, and their second and third cousins once removed, or risk losing their local royal palaces surrounded by barbed wire and armed security details who are liable to shoot you on sight should you stray too near – as well as the uniquely British experience of walking in the beautiful British countryside while doffing a hat to members of the Royal Family being driven past at high speed in their chauffeur driven cars.

Does Charles give a toss about what’s happening to his subjects – HELL NO!
Did you hear him remonstrate about the welfare “reforms” that have driven the poor to penury & (in some cases) homelessness.
Have you seen an outcry by Charles et al in the media about how 1 million subjects have been driven to foodbanks?
Has he spoken out about the 84 thousand homeless children?
Did he speak out about how these same subjects have been hit with Bedroom Tax and Council tax bills? when Charles is one of the biggest tax avoiders’ in the UK.
I noticed the lack of patriotism last summer, when there was a noticeable lack of red & white England flags when the world cup was on, the previous world cup everywhere you went it was ‘sea’ of red & white.
The support for the Royal Family is eroding away at a phenomenal rate and they only have themselves to blame.

That statement from Charlie is SO revealing. Obviously truly wild countryside DOES happen all by itself. What real wilderness doesn’t do is make any money for massive landowners like Charlie.

I think Charlie may know more about this than you do, Finkfurst. The countryside that we presently have is the result of a lot of interference from mankind. Quite possibly you think impenetrable thickets infested with wolves, wild boar and beavers (European ones) would be an improvement. Or that it make no difference.
Charles wants to keep pretty green fields with hedges and cows and stuff, and puts “his” money where his mouth is on this issue. I think he is probably not only in touch with public opinion here, but actively leading it.
As an armchair socialist, can I point out that profit per se is not evil: I don’t begrudge Charles a penny of the money he makes selling overpriced organic biscuits: this is a very sustainable use of land and foreign tourists.
And compared to fracking his lands till they are a toxic waste dump, it is not very evil.

In our small country (and our small world), what we need is to make maximum efficient use of some land and sea for food production, urban areas, energy generation, etc., whilst leaving substantial areas PERMANENTLY as nature reserves and leave them as far as possible untouched to revert through secondary succession to maybe climax habitats (yes, I have a degree involving ecology).

The problem with England and having access to the so-called countryside is that there are far too many cows which are cultivated/bred for meat and milk which means that many thousands of natural acres of meadowland have to be barb-wired off from the general nature-seeking British public so that so-called farmers can make a killing from keeping all these bloody cows….it’s a scandal….. The only answer to this is to vote UKIP on November 20.
