I always thought the BBC Question Time audience was supposed to be made up of members of the public.
If so, why is the BBC openly inviting UKIP activists to be part of it – including UKIP parliamentary candidates:
and 6 members of a local UKIP branch.

All of these professional UKIPpers were invited by the BBC onto one show – last night’s.
Perhaps the BBC thinks the UK population is made up of professional UKIP activists?

That will be that ‘balance’ excuse that saw Scottish independence supporters 1 versus 4 on the panel and children who were invited to a debate instructed to say they were no supporters if the wanted to gain admission allegedly.

This is unsurprising. Further proof that, despite what some Tory back-benchers might claim, the BBC is not a ‘bastion of left-wing propaganda’. As I’ve probably mentioned before I know many of the current ‘editors’ on shows such as Question Time. They are Tories — perhaps with a lower-csae ‘t’ but they’re often not interested in genuine news but love a good headline/punch-up. They have often never worked as a journalist; got into their ‘editorial’ role via other routes.

Its well known that when its in wales they bus conservative party members from England. they outnumber the welsh people by 3 to 1 in the audience. It seems the bbc want to give a perception that isn’t reality.

Still, it’s a good job this is an isolated incident, and not in any way indicative of any sort of *trend* of BBC Question Time increasingly promoting UKIP or anything…

People who watch that show deserve all the misery and stomach ulcers they get. It’s long been a travesty. The entire BBC News output should be avoided by anyone interested in current affairs.
Of all the issues we campaign on: austerity, privatisation, corruption, TTIP…you name it… Each one is difficult on it’s own basis because of the widespread MSM disinfo.
There is one campaign that’s covers all of it, and falls on more welcoming ears… switching people off from mainstream narratives.

The BBC Question Time Panel always has 5 members on it, usually 3 from each of the main Political parties, and also one journalist and some one else, such as an actor or a comedian. This is for purposes of balance and democratic impartiality in a British democracy. Since the Lib Dem party has more or less disintegrated and UKIP is doing so well, maybe the BBC have thought to give more clout/air time to UKIP rather than the Lib Dems, so they cannot be criticised for that because they are just reflecting the trend of public opinion.
What annoys me more is all the times Ed Millipede has been criticised for apparently not knowing how to eat a bacon sarnie but no one seems to reflect on the fact that Ed Millipede is JEWISH therefore he has no business stuffing pork into his mouth in the first place. This really annoys me because he is setting a bad example for a politician.

Funny, I don’t remember Tom Pride ever complaining about Labour activists being invited to be in the BBC QT audience. UKIP activists are entitled to have their say too, if only to show their lack of policies… or brains!
The audience is apparently roughly representative of the political affiliations of the population in the region that week. Seems OK to me.

It’s fair comment that party activists attend, but the BBC should probably get a handle on the concerted exploitation and rigging of the procedure by zealots.
UKIP has, by far, the most zealoted supporters. For example: the type of person (lord knows there are many) who can’t even have a username without lodging the party title in it.

I am not bothered whom the BBC invites to be part of the QT audience, this is entirely at the discretion of the BBC. UKIPpers are also human beings and people. I am more annoyed that Ed Millipede gets constantly criticised for his inability to masticate a bacon sarnie properly, but has no one commented that Ed Millipede IS JEWISH, for heaven’s sakes therefore, he has no business stuffing his Jewish face with pork and if he did it merely as a publicity stunt then shame on him and his absence of morality.

LDs started getting less appearances once the coalition was formed, perhaps because they thought one government rep was often enough.
It’s up to Miliband what faith he follows and what he eats as long as it’s legal.
If he’s caught out looking weird it’s apparently because he is clueless and a useless leader.
If NF is caught looking weird it’s because he is a “character” and thus destined to lead.
For clarirty, I am not a labour supporter.

Just as long as they slag off each other and not the sick, disabled, jobless and pensioners then they can descend into a riot for all I care. Just one of the above is worth more than 99.9% of all MP’s, Lords or councillors in the UK.

LOL John, since when were the labour party socialist? If you examine their policies they are a Neo liberal party. They sit to the right of where Thatcher was in 1979. The labour party stopped being anything like socialist shortly after their 1993 election defeat.
The Political landscape in the UK is almost exclusively considerably right of centre and constantly moving further to the right. If we continue as we are we will soon make Ghengis Khan look like a centre left moderate!

The BBC “vet” applicants to attend show to ensue a balance between political parties health and other topical local issues. remember TV and radio broadcasting is scripted and while panellists do not know the subjects or the order they will be used politicians are briefed by parties all participants will prepare answers to be adapted to the issues of the day past week. has the programme ever featured questions which cannot be predicted except the filler question at the end? Local UKIP are now invited where they do not have a representative on panel because of their numbers in elections

More evidence, thanks to the great Purgative of Political Hubris, that the BBC is biased towards UKIP. However, I think that if someone challenged them about this, they’d merely try to justify it citing the need for ‘balance’ and that in order to make good television you have to include people with strong, controversial views. They would then no doubt repeat Farage’s propaganda about how his party was threatening the establishment. The same arguments, however, do not extend to the inclusion of radical left-wing parties or the Greens, which show you how one-sided it all is.

It’s easy to see why BBC Question Time likes Nigel Farage: He is telegenic, charismatic, fluent, and he inspires healthy debate, which is always a good thing…. I checked up and between mid-2009 and mid-2013, Nigel Farage made no less than 14 appearances on QT, which was more than any other single UK politician. Next, in order of number of QT appearances, were Vince Cable (13) and Ken Clarke (13).

As my age means I have not lost the voting habit, but have no-one to vote for as lost most of my state pension at 66, plus the 6 years lost to us turning 60 since 2013, from the biggest con in political history that the flat rate pension is more pension, when it is less and that for women born from 1953 and men from 1951 can NIL STATE PENSION FOR LIFE, that is the sole food money in old age for a great many.

But The Greens on Question Time could be the most controversial of them all.
UKIP’s basic income to replace benefits is only to the rate of the current Jobseekers.
But The Greens, for some reason, are missing the many many tens of millions of voters, within which are the bulk of the 70 per cent non-voters of all ages, by The Greens’ new leader Ms Natalie Bennett, not stating their radical and compassionate policy, for the first time since 1945, in their 2015 manifesto, in place since their Spring Conference, of:
– Citizen Income, universal, non-withdrawable, to the level of the basic tax allowance, with a supplement for those living alone and for the disabled.
This replaces the cruel benefits regime that threatens people’s lives.
– After CI, same money in a Bettered State Pension,
that gives the full state pension to all pensioners, not leaving a citizen absolutely penniless in old age as the flat rate pension will do,
for women born from 1953 and men born from 1951
and even taking the tiny top-up to a pro rata basic small state pension for someone turning 80 from April 2016

Why is their no interest in people’s grandparents being left penniless, when it is the over 50s who bother to come out and vote and maintain themselves upon the electoral roll.
Women who turned 60 are coming off the electoral roll as no party appeared to give them anything at all but starving poverty. Now the poorest of them have a hope.
If the trade unions gave The Greens billboard advertising money for the Citizen Income and the Bettered State Pension leaving no-one to starve in old age, watch the spectacular rise of The Greens and Ms Natalie Bennett as Prime Minister in a few short months.
And in Scotland, for the Scottish Greens to go after the last 4 safe Labour seats not due to be lost to the Scottish SNP in 2015. Especially the man who lost Labour in 2010, Gordon Brown.

sorry no because the SNP is not a UK Party just as the Irish and Welsh Independence/Unionist parties are particular to individual countries. we would see the same BBC response to the Greens should their vote increase It is also about vote share opinion polls on a UK party basis and the BBC and other TV media requirements to ensure a balance of views. Of course Tory and Labour politicians and supporters will attempt to limit UKIP broadcasting opportunities because of the threat to them as individual parties and disturbing the two party confrontation for power at Westminster. Both parties face the internal problem of maintaining activist morale faced with the prospect of only retaining or gaining power by having to do a deal with a thirds parties or even a third and fourth party or attempt to govern as a minority government within the context of fixed term Parliament especially as they have gone off the idea of the fixed term Parliament. The situation is one where the two main parties have been so focused on gaining outright power and coping with the potential for splits within their own ranks and recruited political staff and advisers who are never having done a proper job and committed to support existing polices that they lost touch with a significant segment of the population who in effect saying f…….y …..
because of immigration. the expenses scandal and over the past year finding that both Party leaderships and establishments VIPS treated some children as expendable for use for their personal pleasure while others covered it up over a period of 40 years (for good and bad reasons) at a time when we nearly had to go to war with Russia re Russia’s Black Sea port ( Budapest agreement) and allowed a well financed murdering fascist band of fanaticals in effect to create a state on our doorstep

i reply to the 1st part of your post..but the 2015ge is a UK wide election that does select politicians to vote @ WM, on UK issues, and the SNP do vote on UK issues..so to my mind they do influence UK politics so they should be included…they are a UK party…
