Turns out the Daily Mail got it wrong when it claimed the feminist T-shirt worn by Ed Miliband was made in a sweatshop.
Or in other words, it lied:

The slogan is not in the least original and the shirt costs £45. Elle magazine are hardly standard bearers in the fight for gender equality. They put it on male politicians from parties which are a long, long way from equality of representation in an effort to persuade us to buy it. What sort of “feminists” are they hoping to appeal to, I wonder?

Tom – I think the Mail is a foul little rag which frequently does lie, but I can’t see any lies in this article (to which I notice that you didn’t provide a link – why?)
I think the REAL story is who is making all the money from selling a T-shirt which costs less than a pound at wholesale price to rich pseudo-feminist posers like Miliband and Harman for FORTY FIVE FUCKING POUNDS EACH!!!!

Fawcett Society didn’t say that it wasn’t a ‘sweatshop’, did it??

Fayzal Ally Beegun, president of the International Textile, Garment and Leather Workers Union, is reported to have said: “The workers in this factory are treated very poorly and the fact that politicians in England are making a statement using these sweatshop t-shirts is appalling.”
Seems different to the Fawcett Society and Tom’s take on the conditions of the factories and the union involvement.

John – You know it didn’t, so don’t be silly. I note that just like the Daily Mail you used ‘sweatshop’ in inverted commas, so that’s just use of a meaningless word for your desired effect. If you have any real questions then I’ll be happy to try to answer.

Tom has no idea about the conditions in this factory, he’s just having his usual go at a Tory newspaper just because it’s Tory. This time his criticism is pretty groundless, but it often isn’t.
However, my earlier point still stands…… the “All The President’s Men” mantra still holds good!?

If you want a sensible discussion then please feel free to ask something which isn’t rhetorical. You seemed to have some interest in the Fawcett Society accounts. Do you? If so, then use the All The President’s Men mantra – “Follow the money”……

As I said before, the word is meaningless, so it’s easy for one side to use it and the other to deny it. That’s crass politics. Follow the money instead……
