(not satire – it’s the Lib Dems!)
Personally I’d like to see the general election TV debates include ALL the main party leaders.
But if the Greens are to be excluded – as the BBC insists – I have a question.
Now the Liberal Democrats are polling in 5th place* – behind both the UKIP and the Green Party – why is Nick Clegg still being INCLUDED in the debates?
.
*Latest voting intention figures (from YouGov):
LAB 34%, CON 31%, UKIP 17%, GRN 7%, LDEMS 6%
.

I believe Nick Clegg should be excluded from the debates, due to the Green Party overtaking them in the polls and they’re not included. The LibDems is now a fringe party. And anything Clegg says no one is going to believe him. He lied in the debates with Nigel Farage. I’d rather see the Gfeen Party in talks than LibDems.

Absolutely, the bias against The Green Party is unbelievable, no, it is believable actually, but scandalous without doubt.

The irritation is that the BBC are officially basing the decision to keep the Lib-Dems in while leaving the Greens out on the results of the 2010 General Election.
But surely that changes things the other way? Surely UKIP must be left out, as they didn’t get any seats in 2010 at all – one fewer, indeed, than the Greens.

But UKIP has risen in popularity and are now officially THE THIRD largest political party. The Greens have only just overtaken the LibDems. I really don’t think the LibDems should be included, because they are now a fringe party and I really don’t think they are going to survive at all. At least The Greens are making progress and I believe they should be included.

Oh I realise that, but what I’m saying is that the BBC is not using the same standards to measure which parties should be included. If the corporation is going to insist that the Green Party’s showing at the last GE should be the yardstick, then that should also apply to everybody else. Instead, they are only applying it to the Greens. It makes the measure very arbitrary, and therefore undemocratic.
Yet another example of the ridiculous, disproportionate exposure UKIP has been receiving in the mainstream media over the last five or so years – without which, it would never have got anywhere *near* becoming the third biggest party to begin with.

Because by the crooked BBC they are seen as the third most popular party

there is no rhyme or reason to the bbc’s selection PP’s for tv representation..a poll published today suggests 54 SNP mp’s will be elected to WM 2015ge, up from the present 6, a substantial increase, if that is what the bbc are basing qualification on..this means that the SNP could have substantial influence on UK politics after the 2015ge…

Nick Clegg needs to be ritually humiliated, so give him a tiny three-legged stool and a clown’s hat and allow him to sit at his master Cameron’s feet…..

While I am no fan of the Lib Dems these days, and while I would like to see the Greens getting the exposure they deserve, it’s worth remembering that the Lib Dems are both a) a governing party and b) they still have the third largest number of sitting MPs, despite how unpopular they have become over the course of this parliament

“Scottish no voters have every reason to feel let down since the referendum
Labour’s woes are the least of Scotland’s concerns right now. The famous silent majority of no voters is hushed and somnolent”

scottish labour are in meltdown ie a substantial decrease in support…what parties are likely to form the next uk govt..the greens might be part of that equation if they had = MSM exposure… what IS the critical question the bbc are asking themselves, that is what i’m trying to work out…

A televised debate between Miliband and The Greens would be worth watching to see the meltdown of Labour in England and Wales, as much as the SNP will do in Scotland to the Scottish Labour.
Labour is now offering continuing the cruel benefits regime and the moral theft of state pension, leaving those 60 and over with nil food and fuel money for life.
https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/state-pension-at-60-now
The Greens, in contrast, are a 21st century party that solves the 70 per cent rise in benefit sanctions so losing food vouchers to food banks and the equal rise in starvation, mostly to those in work.
Someone 60 and ill gets benefit sanctioned, starves and is still liable to the slavery of Workfare, where the firm cannot give the person a free lunch as that would be a form of payment.
The Greens offer in their 2015 manifesto pledgean end to benefits admin that causes such suffering and starvation altogether and replaced with a fair and just:
– Citizen Income, universal, non-means tested and non-withdrawable.
To the level of the basic income tax.
Upon retirement, The Greens offer a bettered State Pension, whereas all other parties including Labour offer a massive reduction in the already lowest state pension of all rich nations bar poor Mexico.
If Labour want to avoid this fate, then abandoning their anti-Greens unit in their election campaign team and talk up The Greens, so as to get a coalition partner to pass the number of Tories in Westminster.
Then The Greens could gain 40 and more seats in England and Wales, sufficient to form a coalition with Labour, giving The Greens sole power as a coalition agreement over pensions and benefit (replaced by Citizen Income, so the words benefit and welfare disappear forever).
Anybody?

Tom – You’re absolutely correct about Clegg, but why-oh-why do you always forget Scotland?
Nick Clegg and the LibDems are now an irrelevance. It’s looking like the main parties represented at Westminster in 2015 will be Conservative, Labour, SNP and UKIP, so the participants should be Cameron, Miliband, Sturgeon and Farage.
I predict that Nicola Sturgeon would wipe the floor with the lot of them.

The Greens getting 40 or more seats? That’s cloud cuckoo land! The Greens could only scrape 3 or 4 seats in their wildest dreams. They’re pretty much as irrelevant as the LibDems.

What a load of baloney. They’re all promising pie in the sky to spin the voting system. BBC liked Nigel for his entertainment value (who else has such a grin) and don’t know how to handle more than 4 parties, hence no SNP or Greens. For my money, the other 4 are all shades of grey and I want to hear some colour from the Green answers to the other lot of rubbish.
