(not satire – it’s the Tories!)
At their party conference this week, the Tories have announced the need for yet more radical austerity and belt-tightening measures – especially for the country’s working poor.
And Tory party delegates celebrated the news of yet more hardship for millions of their fellow citizens in their usual way:

In fact, the rise of young Conservatives like Isaac shows the Tories are managing to line up another whole generation of Bollinger-quaffing out-of-touch posh boys to take over the leadership of the party from Cameron, Osborne and Boris once they’ve retired to their country estates and the House of Lords.

visiting his FB page he’s a very talented artist , but he does like to big up his privilege and likes opening bottles of champagne with his sabre (allegedly). He is also proud that he had to take a bottle of gin to get through the CPC.

This ‘future leader’ (appropriately named Duffy!) thinks changing the title of the information will make a difference to the content….. just like the Tories, he’s been learning well from the New Labour spin machine.
The Blair government was the innovator, so all credit for this new English politics to Blair, Cambdell, Mandelson, Crosland, et al!

I phoned Ed (you know which Ed FinkFurst, say no more) and he just purred down the phone, before wetting himself laughing at the revelation that austerity hit Tories not only drink cheaper champagne than he, they think ONE BOTTLE is enough to see them through an entire Party conference.
I don’t mind letting you know this as we both agree that tattling about mistakes made by politicians in their private lives is NOT journalism .

He’s only 16, so if he bought alcohol for you then he broke the law, and so did the shop where he bought it. Did you report both of them to the police?

I don’t know how he got it, but I don’t think he’s think he’s dumb to try and buy it himself. Either way, I appreciated the sentiment, especially as I didn’t expect any gifts in return for letting him use my house.

I’m afraid this story is rather misleading. I was with Isaac yesterday and he was pretty shaken and upset by all of this- contrary to this post, Isaac is working class. His Mum works stacking shelves in Asda and his Dad is an electrician. He goes to a state school and comes from a labour-voting family of miners. As he tells it, he couldn’t afford a hotel so Zara offered to set him up for the night. Isaac then asked his Mum to buy a bottle of champagne as a thank-you gift. He intended to send the picture to Zara with the caption “now have everything I need for #CPC14” referring to the bottle as his gift to Zara, but did not realise he had also tweeted it. At the end of the day, he was giving a friend a present and didn’t drink any himself. He’s 16 years old and has enough to deal with, without posts like this.

Just a little question zararawr…… Why do you think he said “Now have everything I need for Party Conference” rather than “Here’s the champagne I bought for the kind person who gave me hospitality during the conference”?
Would you call him a liar, or just an ungrateful little brat?

This whole story is ridiculous. Regardless of the context, it is just immoral to treat a sixteen year old boy in such a nasty manner just because of his political views.
Fine – he made a mistake which seems to brilliantly reinforce your worldview. But it was a mistake, nothing more. People do occasionally make them, and teenagers more than most of us.
And he’s sixteen. He’s not Cameron or Osborne or Boris or any Tory MP. Like any teenager, he deserves to not be bullied and barracked, and particularly not by adults behind computer screens.
Forget the politics. This is just wrong.

There is a difference between barracking a 16 year old and barracking adults who defend irresponsible behaviour such as underage drinking. So far Mr Duffy (junior) has not posted a message on here, only adults have, though apparently not his parents or anybody from Conservative Future. If he were to write an explanation himself then I for one would treat him as the teenager that he is.

It astounds me that you’re actually trying to justify your behavior. This has nothing to do with barracking adults who are defending irresponsible drinking. This is about a group of left-wing adults who are making some extremely nasty comments and sweeping character judgments about a sixteen year old lad, based upon a single ill-advised tweet which you have twisted completely out of context.
You’ve found an easy target, promoted a flood of spiteful messages across social media, and all simply to reinforce your worldview about young Tories. It’s bullying, and whether or not you can be sued for it, it is completely wrong. Conservative, socialist, liberal; no teenager deserves to be on the receiving end of such unpleasantness.
Why not put yourself in his shoes – and show just a modicum of compassion?
