The UK political establishment was rocked to its foundations as voters in Scotland voted overwhelmingly for political engagement by a massive margin of 82% for ‘Yes’ to a mere 18% for ‘No’.
Leaders of the ‘Better Not Bother’ movement – which had sought to persuade Scottish people to watch things like X Factor instead of becoming politically engaged – were in turmoil as unprecedented numbers of voters defied expectations and turned out to vote.
The shock results come just months after a resounding victory in the European Elections earlier this year for the Better Not Bother campaign, in which well over 66% of the electorate decided they’d rather do the shopping rather than voting.

Actually I think fear won, but that’s a normal human response which is very difficult to overcome. I was able to vote Yes because I and my family would have been OK whatever the result, but many people simply couldn’t take that risk.
I’m sure that Scotland will become independent in the next 20 years or so, simply because the political divergence from England is going to increase. Scotland will be unable to tolerate the English shift to the right which seems inevitable to me.

Pennie – I think you do pretend to be stupid, but of course if that’s the online game you like to play then that’s fine – whatever you enjoy doing. I don’t get cross about things like that, but I AM cross about things such as lying politicians.
None of us are tangible in this medium. Our words are all there is, nothing more…… Is clarity of thought and words the same as self-importance? Does that constitute a broomstick up the arse? I didn’t fall out with OBD. I’m happy (time permitting) to talk to anybody about anything, but he is not. If some people think refusing to talk is a solution then that’s their problem… and I mean some politicians too!
You only seem to have asked me one other general question, about “logons”, “ap (actually IP) addresses” and “identity”. It would be pointless for me to try to explain about how the internet works, but the information is readily available if you want to spend some time trying to understand it. I’ve been a programmer since before there was an internet, but I’m no expert. I’m sure Tom can explain to you how this site in particular works if you ask him.

Correct – I don’t give a shit about how I project, but I communicate very deliberately in a way that upsets people…… GOOD! People need to be provoked and upset before they react, both on this site and in society in general.
I use “FinkFurst” because I first used it on some American discussion sites several years ago, and I expect you know what Fink means there… provocation again.
