(not satire – it’s the UK today!)
Statutory homelessness in England has gone up by a massive 26% since Cameron and Clegg’s coalition government came to power.
And the number of people sleeping rough in London has risen by an unbelievable 77% since 2010.
These figures come after years of declining trends in homelessness – but that was before Cameron and Clegg got their hands on the economy.
Just one question.
Why is this not front page news?
.
The full figures from homelessness charity Crisis can be viewed here.

Think we all know why this isn’t front page. With criticism Tories being ignored by some in the media, perhaps they’d notice more if the protests were made outside the BBC & Mail etc..,offices

If you think this bad just wait till this bunch of criminals push the interest rates up the percentage of homeless will increase ten fold, millions are scraping out a living and hanging on to their homes by the skin of their teeth. The cost of living crisis would not enter this bunch of criminals minds as they live on a different planet to the rest of mankind. £££££££££££££££££££ is all they know.

That’s unlikely to make a difference. There was a protest recently against the cuts imposed by government, and it started outside the BBC. Anything up to 100,000 people attended but few people seemed to notice (as I think was noted at the time, this is despite the BBC being able to find a single Scottish fan during the world cup, but ignoring thousands of people on their own doorstep)

‘…due to the shortage and high cost of housing…’
This is the real elephant in the room.
My own house seems to have jumped up in value and the neighbour’s daughter has had problems with the seller pulling out at the last minute because they realised that they could get more money. On two occasions now too for two different properties and both the day before the day of completion of the purchase.
I think most people would blame the increased demand at least partly on the increased immigration that the country has experienced over recent years – something that the labour party is just as responsible for as the tories are for the failure to deal properly with benefits.
If labour had properly controlled immigration – not that the tories have been any better of course – then perhaps the demand would not have been quite so high and we wouldn’t have quite such a housing crisis on our hands.
Although even with housing and work benefits the previous labour government have been less than perfect. They were the ones after all that gave the contract to ATOS to run the checks to see who was fit to work if memory serves, not the tories.
Labour are to blame for much of the mess we’re currently in.
If you haven’t guessed by now I have a fair cynical view of the political classes in this country. A pox on all their houses.
