The following comment was posted on an online chat forum for Muslims yesterday inviting responses:
Some of the other members of the forum became suspicious by the strange comment and decided to check the new member’s IP address:
More up-to-date checks of the IP address by other members of the forum showed the comment was posted by someone working at the Daily Mail Group (the Evening Standard used to be part of the Daily Mail Group):
The whole thread has now been deleted from the forum but it can still be viewed on Google’s webcache here.
So it seems the Daily Mail ordered one of their journalists to pose as an extremist on a Muslim forum to try to elicit comments they could use for an anti-Muslim story.
Fortunately they were busted.
In a civilised society, a national newspaper journalist trying to stir up hatred and controversy with lies and subterfuge should be so professionally shameful it would normally lead to the sack for the hack concerned and investigations into standards of journalistic accountability at the publication.
At the Daily Mail – it’s just another day at the office.

The Daily Mail should have some serious questions to answer about this. It is illegal for the state to use agents provacateurs to stir up illegal activity and spy on its citizens. There is a fine line in law enforcement between some of the deceptions used to trap dangerous criminals and entrapment. Nevertheless, police officers have been prosecuted when that line is crossed. The Daily Mail has never really had to face that possibility, as it was one of the leading members of the press self-regulatory body. Thus it believes – and unfortunately, probably rightly – that it can set up stunts like this with impunity.

Your post seems fine, but the specific accusation that the journalist was Richard Ferrer appears to be dubious.

Allegedly, the police et al do not know where any line is especially this one *rolls eyes*… This is the horrible truth from someone who has and is being hounded by the establishment even though they know I know what they’ve been/not been doing and continue to do/not do for the last 18 months… I believe the term for what is happening with them all now is ‘damage limitation’…
Let me clarify… For the past 18 months I’ve had the dubious pleasure of having my character assassinated for what? I’m an ongoing, proven, victim of serious and concerted disability hate crime and other hate crime which the ‘authorities’, including health, service and politicians who have studiously failed spectacularly to help, preferring to waste obscene amounts of public money when it would have cost a few hundred quid for them to help and they would have at least six people locked up with horribly high sentences…
Because I’m a journalist (with a conscience; yes, I know it’s hard to believe); peaceful campaigner; political and social activist etc. against welfare reforms, legal aid reforms, the freedom of the internet, free speech and the right to peaceful protest etc., of course, I must be trouble *rolls eyes again*… FFS! I can barely walk and cannot go out alone unaccompanied!!!
It’s only during the last few months and last week that I finally have absolute undeniable proof of this… I’m still wondering what the ‘F’ I can do with it… It reads like a bad, but very dangerous spy novel 😦

Apologies – I should have probably have said ‘*your* post seems fine’, to clarify that, while I think you report the element of the story which seems worth looking into, I am concerned that others are linking it to Ferrer (whom I don’t think I’d ever heard of, but who seems to have been unfairly targeted.) I wanted to make the point here – having come to your post via Twitter – in case some of your readers had also noticed the allegations against him.

But I have just done a cursory check to find that Richard Ferrer doesn’t work at the Daily Fail but is, rather, a journo at the Independent. So not this guy then. Why don’t we leave the speculation to the police, whose job it probably is to investigate?

I think the smartest thing for the website to do, as responsible citizens, would be to take the comments at face value and report the posting to the met. I’m sure it was only the other week that Theresa May, et al, were encouraging muslims (muslim mums?) to report radicalisation within their communities – well,, here is a prime example of somebody professing their jihadist desires; they don’t say they are from the daily mail, they wanted their little chuckle headed subterfuge, they’re obviously too thick to use the internet properly, let them enjoy some time with the yard.

The evidence of inciting religious hatred (potentially an offence under the UK 2006 Act see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_and_Religious_Hatred_Act_2006 ) should be handed over to the Police for an investigation. As to whether this was the initiative of an individual rogue journalist looking to construct a story, or whether this is an aspect of the kind of systematic press mismanagement now resulting in jail terms for phone hacking ex editors like Coulson, that should be for a thorough police investigation to determine.

Very worrying stuff.
Just a minor technical point, though; It is an IP address, not an ISP address. Your IP address shows where your computer is on a network, your ISP is the company that provides you with an Internet connection.

Also strange of Tom to leave out the bits about Ferrer? Did you realise it wasn’t adding up and chose to ignore the unlikelier parts of the story?

re. Ferrer – when I checked the IP address myself I kept getting slightly different results – but all from within the Mail Group server. I quickly realised that the checks aren’t exact enough to give an exact address within the Mail server – and sometimes they were a bit out of date. That’s why one of the returns on the original forum was for the Evening Standard (which hasn’t been a part of the Mail Group since around 2009).
I knew Ferrer no longer works for the Mail so I realised that particular result was just an out-of-date one. That’s why I didn’t mention him by name.
What is certain though is that the IP is from inside the Mail Group somewhere.

Seems this story has been exposed as a fake to try and smear the journalist and the Mail in one go. Sadly this sites Daily Mail fixation meant it was rather quick and gullible to take what was being spoon fed to it knowing they would bite.

However, it’s true that some people have accused Ferrer of being the journalist. Not me however. See my reply to ‘Me innit’ above.
What is certain is that the IP address is from the Mail Group. So no – it’s not been exposed as a fake at all. Nice try though.
I can assure you the Mail doesn’t need your help in defending it. If I were to write something untrue about it – its lawyers would be all over me like a ton of bricks. They’re not. Because they know what I wrote is true.
Oh and by the way you mentioned “another apology”? I don’t remember giving the first one.

I didn’t say you, I said the story had been busted as a smear. You picked to try and report half of it and left out the journalist named.
I find this whole thing odd, not to mention this site. It has a Daily Mail fixation, which it tries to bust using Daily Mail style headlines. By your own admission you are just alleging that Mail Group computers have been used to post this, much like the recent Hillsborough smears posted using Government computers.
Unlike that case with an individual with a strange grudge or something, you link the computer used as being evidence that the owner is in on it when you have proved no such thing and distance yourself from the journalist named. So which is it ? How do you know this was a journalist typing this ?
Lets take the idea this was a journalist on sanctioned story for the DM on perhaps investigating how easily people were prepared to express support for this. Is that utterly wrong and nothing like what a journalist should do. What if he tried the same stunt over at StormFront or some ultra right-wing forum. Total condemnation from you ? What if his other story is hanging around on some chat site saying he is a 14 year old girl up for fun with older men and reports on the huge numbers of guys that may want to meet ‘her’ ?
Your headline on this is utterly of the same DM style you obsess about. That is what I find silly.

This is racism, because it is similar to South Africa which even Americans considered illegal occupation by whites who exploited their resources so why let these Jews slide by making the new South Africa in Israel?
America has 50 states, they could have dedicated at-least 1 of it’s 50 states to be considered a Jewish state. Instead, they helped in tearing up parts of Africa and Arabia now Israeli made walls to keep the rightful owners of that land out.
I think Israel may face same consequences as south Africa as Europeans had been surrounded by African people. Similarly, Israel will be divided amongst Africans and Arabs. Israel belongs to Africa but Africans have not taken that it back so Arabs keep pushing in but are killed. I feel if both African and Arab communities work together from both sides then they can easily enter Israel from all sides.
If a nuke was to be launched into Israel it would have a negative effect for both sides so the only option is to run in all at once and eat their food as hungry Arabs and Africans fighting malnutrition, diseases such as malaria famine from limited medical supplies and much more. Also, Hunger from no agriculture.
Once taken Israel can be beneficial to both African and Arabs, they get world of riches, weapons and a strategic location to launch anything into the west. So again if they love the west why then live in Africa? if the west loves them then why they placed them in Africa? and not provide a state or a province?
Retribution for African and Arabs would mean taking from Americans, Canadians, and the Britishers. As far as smear campaigns, lies, deception, I mean grow up you Jews educate Christians who have openly squatted and dropped human excrement onto you for 1000 years. Why make new enemies? In-fact your should help with the second re-taking of Spain by Muslims instead you create new problems obstacles,walls etc. Well Israel being ruled by Muslims was not even predicted by the last prophet who you came to ask about your Dhul-Qarnayn who also built a wall to keep you out. So the 2nd rule of Spain was predicted and it can only happen if you weird looking north African honkies allow Arabs and Africans to fulfill the prophecy. Stop C blocking thy entrance into Spain.
We cannot not launch into where for example Job is resting or Musa or Danial and others, its stupid, it’s something that an atheist would not mind doing just like a Zionist govt, what a mess the neo have created in a black and brown man’s land.
