Tory minister Nicky Morgan has suggested that the Tories should consider all-human shortlists to improve the level of human representation in the party.
At present, just 16 per cent of Conservative MPs have any human attributes, such as a heart or feelings, compared to 33 per cent of Labour MPs, and positive discrimination is often regarded as the only way to significantly improve levels of humanity in parties.
But in response to Morgan’s comments, the Tories have made it clear that having shortlists with only human beings was “categorically not an option” and pointed to the fact that as many as 30 per cent of 2015 Tory candidates have reported having human feelings at some time during their life as evidence of progress.

Alan Coren once joked that the Tories during one election were so similar, he thought they were clones, all stored frozen round the back of Tory central office and thawed out during elections. In which case, they’re like the replicants in Blade Runner – genetically engineered creatures deliberately designed not to develop any human characteristics.
