I was diagnosed with schizophrenic tendencies a few years ago, but have never been a drug addict. The Daily Mail’s journalists must surely have inspired Forbes McAllister on ‘Knowing Me Knowing You’ – Alan Partridge asks him ‘Are you always motivated by hatred’? You could start the timeline even earlier; they’ve been demonising refugees and other immigrants since at least February 3, 1900:

You forgot Richard Littlecock… erm… Littlejohn driving beloved teacher Lucy Meadows to suicide for no other fault than being trans.
But then again… if we were to recap all of the times the Daily Fail has been an utter disgrace, we’d be here all day and more.

Just a heads-up that the piece about catching gay from EastEnders doesn’t actually say that – it just tries to manufacture controversy over a pre-watershed scene of two men in bed. It’s standard Mail trolling of the BBC/homophobia, rather than the especially noteworthy examples of Fail you have alongside. The Lucy Meadows story definitely deserves inclusion.

I think you could add some external events which may have influenced the timing and placement of Mail stories.
For instance, paedophile working at number 10 Downing Street warned of arrest, allowed to resign and then arrested (13th Feb I think): article spuriously claiming top Labour ministers supported the Paedophile Information Exchange (17th Feb).
David Cameron’s constituency office calls the police on the Bishop of Oxford and others arriving by arrangement to deliver an open letter about food poverty (earlier last week): article fraudulently attacking food banks (Sunday).

I’m surprised there’s nothing there from the 60s and 70s. Did they mellow out for a couple of decades then or what?

It misses out the article supporting Marine Le Pen as the “responsible vote” in the French presidential elections in 2012. The Daily Mail: proudly supporting fascism from 1934-2012.
