Ingham, like Tebbitt, has become the annoying, eccentric old uncle we wish we could keep stored in the attic out of sight. Rhodes-Boyson, as I remember, wasn’t too different. There’s a home for characters like this, in a tinpot party like UKIP (Bongo-Bongo land and the view that homosexuality could be cured with vigorous exercise). Even so, the Hillsborough families should at least be shown some respect in the face of the vacillation and prevarication they’ve had to tolerate now for so many years.

What about the drunken Liverpool fans who caused the surge and who afterwards relieved their bursting bladders on the bodies of their comrades?
How many so-called Liverpool fans took part in the pitched battles against the police in the miners’ strike and again during the Liverpool riots?
Maybe if the police had ready access to a few shotguns for crowd control, none of those incidents would have happened.

Tom your headline more correctly should have said two Tories still blame the fans rather than Tories. I am sure most Tories don’t blame the fans. Although you always deny you are a journalist I am afraid this blog is a typical example of journalistic exaggeration.

BozI I don’t understand your point. The prejudice you refer to I assume is Ingrams and Pelcs and not mine. They have obviously let prejudice blind them to the facts.
The point I was trying to make was that a more accurate headline which named the old fart Ingrams instead of the general term Tories would have been just as effective. However, Tom has already blogged along those lines.

Note the snide reference to Merseyside,the moaning scousers motif that still continues.Substitute resolute determination in the face of an Establishment and media campaign of hatred and lies.Against overwhelming odds ,ordinary people stood firm.Rather like 12 Angry Men ,slowly but surely the acceptance of truth from the prejudiced and easily fooled.It was clear what had happened,it had nearly happened at the same ground in previous years.Rather than the portrayal of hooligans ,it was the fans saving lives whilst the authorities were either in a state of chaos or plotting the blame game.It shows the power of the State,but also how unfortunately a large section of the population can be manipulated based on their own prejudices.It still continues of course,the scrounger rhetoric being the most obvious.JFT 96 YNWA
