(not satire – it’s the Lib Dems!)
Two years ago, in 2012, leading Lib Dem Shirley Williams wrote a joint letter with Nick Clegg to assure fellow party members that the coalition’s Health and Social Care bill would not mean the end of an NHS which was free at the point of use.
In the letter, she promised her wavering Lib Dem colleagues that the NHS reforms would still guarantee:
“…. a comprehensive health service financed by taxpayers, accessible to all and free at the point of need.“
But just a year later – after the reforms had been securely passed into law – she was openly proposing introducing charges for NHS services like GP visits and prescriptions.
Here is what she wrote in an essay on the future of the NHS in July last year:
“If you’re absolutely stuck for money, there might be a case for
at least considering a nominal charge for GP appointments.
The French I think charge something equivalent to
£5 per appointment. It might get people to value the service.
You could also have a nominal charge for prescriptions for older
people, with appropriate exemptions. An awful lot of people
do actually have quite substantial pensions in addition to the
state pension.“
Sorry to have to break this to you Lib Dems.
But looks like your precious Shirley might have been lying to you.

However, why did she come to this conclusion and is it valid? It’s not good enough to do a Daily Mail or Humphries or Paxmen and focus on the person (“you said this in 1986 so you are u-turning”) rather than the actual idea. Whether someone changes their mind is now a sign of bravery given the barracking you’ll get. And what matters is the policy and its relevance to today.

“Appropriate exemptions” always leave someone unfairly excluded; and a “nominal charge” to a Baroness is an insurmountable burden to someone depending on benefits.
Lords’ allowances are slightly complicated, so let’s look at MPs instead. £5 is 6.9% of single person’s weekly JSA*; 6.9% of an MP’s weekly pay** is £88.98. Looking through the other end of the telescope, £5 is 0.39% of an MP’s salary; 0.39% of JSA is 0.28p.
The comparison doesn’t quite end there. I venture to suggest an MP could lose £88.98 without really noticing. For someone on JSA, 28p is a tin of value range beans with a few pence left over – the greater part of two meals, equivalent to almost £78 worth of Smith’s famous £39 breakfasts ***.

I don’t have a fundamental problem with politicians changing their minds, provided they say so plainly and explain exactly why they did. I think that actually makes them more credible. Of course if they do it too often then they will lose that credibility.

Shirley Williams co-payments come straight out of the Orange Book.
Interestingly a common thread coming from the New Labour old guard, is that integration is essential. Whilst it would seem a common sense approach I would be highly sceptical when hearing it being endorsed by the likes of Alan Milburn and co.
For those who accept the drivel perpetrated by these failed politicians, I would like to point out that public services have been under attack now for over forty years (Neo Liberal theology), and that each time the answer has been to cut the money supply.
That has been the instrument for asset stripping the public sector by the private sector. The outcomes have also been the same, paying more for less and shoddy service provision to boot.
The evidence has been in the public domain for some time now but the reality is that most are still ignorant. We do not have a problem funding our public services only governments for their own political reasons, refuse to fund them properly.

Why do you want MY solution? I am not here to bring solutions only to witness. The One I speak for will come with ALL the solutions.
If you need solutions, The Law of this land (Not Statutes and Acts) was written down hundreds of years ago and all based upon the Ten Commandments and agreements between the Saxon Kings and the people – what they called The Common Law, until the Norman thugs arrived. The last Laws in that tradition were Magna Charta (in part) and The Declaration of Rights 1688, which makes up the Constitution. Therein are all the solutions.
Any act of corruption in government is treason and betrayal and should carry the penalty that The Law dictates. The problem is there is no one in Westminster that obeys those Laws and they would certainly never enforce them, because it would mean execution on Tower Hill.

The so-called public/private partnerships have been chipping away at the publicly funded NHS for years so that most of it is in the hands of private bodies who gobble the money, with the cuts in services and increased costs which this always involves. Meanwhile we are hearing more and more that the elderly are a drain on the service. We either want a public service or we don`t. This half way house has been a con to drain the sector dry. It`s a pity more people were not able to see it.

he used a reassurance prop/tool used by gandhi, as if, it puts him in truth, to justify his attacks on others, he quoted gandhi to give his point, which gandhi would have condemned, ie validity/power/repution/repute, and gandhi was also a great human being (which he was)…..but, according to thetruthnot’s logic he could not have been, so not only is he using gandhi’s prop, he is also using gandhi’s reputation, to prop up his point in 2 instances ….i pointed out that according to his logic gandhi had no worthy reputation, and would have in fact been completely opposed to the like’s of truthnot …the quoted prop/reassurance does nothing, it is merely and EMPTY tool, that does nothing without the ingredients/reasoning that goes into this tool/prop…he also said i was wrong to brings others into the debate unless they had a direct relationship to benn, therefore he did the same thing, he accused me of doing…..i did ask implicitly how gandhi, got to his truths, and was he to be believed, according to thetruthnots logic/reasoning, that would have fed into gandhi’s reassurance tool/prop, NO!… ..so quoting it alone is pointless…so he was feeding on a reputation of a man he would actually have condemned, for his beliefs…he tried to use gandhi, to condemn benn…which got up my nose…but not now as i have explained it, so as to satisfy myself…which is basically all i need to do….

My health is primarily in Yashua Messiah hands. I can only fall ill if He allows it. In the meantime, I am responsible for keeping my body (The Temple) as healthy as possible by not eating processed foods that are manufactured to deliberately make people obese and ill.
Sick and ill people then need doctors who will prescribe them zillions of pounds worth of even more poisonous drugs to send them to an early grave. Meantime Big Pharma makes fat profits out of all this unnecessary suffering.

It’s not clean and safe, it’s poluted to hell with chlorine and cancer forming toxic flouride, in many areas. It also contains many other contaminants – heavy metals etc. These I mostly remove with my own filtration system. And yes God has given me the wisdom to do this.

God provides everything – even sand and other fine matter for filtration. Re drainage, I haven’t got anything, apart from the clothes on my back. I am in the world, but not of the world so I make use of what is available – I have: “nowhere to lay my head”.
Re cholera, I didn’t mention bacteria, but I boil my water too.
Re all your life, how long is that? Terminal diseases can take many years to develop as the toxins build up in our bodies. I would go easy on the smug self-assured cockiness, it can come back and bite your arse.
