There is a disturbing detail not often mentioned related to the horrific case of prison officer Neville Husband who police now say abused more than 200 children in his ‘care’.
Husband tied up little boys, tortured them and repeatedly raped them. Police now say this happened on a ‘daily basis’.
Husband was finally imprisoned for the horrific abuse – but for some reason governments of every political shade fought compensation claims by the victims for years through every court they could. And when a few of the victims finally did receive some money in compensation – they discovered most of it had been eaten up by their legal fees which were not covered by the settlement.
None of the victims have been offered counselling or psychiatric help.
In fact they haven’t even received an official apology.
Because when Stephen Byers, the local MP for one of the victims, wrote to Jack Straw – the then Home Secretary – asking for a public apology, Straw replied:
“The terms of the agreement did not include an apology.”
I see that Mr Straw today claimed that Britain is a ‘Christian country’ with Christian values.
Except when it comes to victims of institutional child abuse it seems.

Pride's Purge 
It is nice to know somebody cares, I care too. These people hide in many institutions, in schools, in places of worship. Sadly they hide in the Socialist Workers Party too.
Maybe the person I am about to mention was not really ‘one of us’ maybe he just wanted a place to hide. Maybe they often do that.
I recently posted this comment to the SWP Facebook page but have had limited response, o the SWP still condones rape by its members ? I have been in an email conversation with Charlie Kimber regarding the actions of one of your members, I recently posted this comment to your page …………. As a nine year old boy I was raped by a ‘man’ who has connections to the Socialist Workers party. He was present at the pick up point when I journeyed on a coach to a lobby of the Labour party in Newcastle about 12 years ago. I had blocked out the events due to them being so traumatic, but he recognised me. #Goldsmithsroad #stopchildabuse ………… SWP should not equal rape in the eyes of the public, you need to overturn the rocks these animals hide under. His response was, at first, cooperative but then after offering to help, he retracted the offer. This is unacceptable and I will not stop pursuing your organisation for answers and justice.
There are limited school records but his union will have received subs that show his work history.

One of the problems has to be that in the past and perhaps even now as soon as there was an arrest, trial and sentence the public thought it was all over when looking back its obvious that what few arrest etc there were just skimmed the tip of the iceberg and perhaps that knowledge is the reason why some politicians kept survivors at some distance from real justice and compensation.

A message for Jack Straw: Let’s get this straight, Jack Straw. The ‘terms of the agreement’ seem not to have included very much at all for the victims; the one thing that would not have cost the Govt much of its carefully hoarded stash of money would have been a heartfelt apology to the victims of Neville Husband, this perverted prison officer, one of your own after all, a government employee. Oh, silly me, to apologise might have been construed as your admission of guilt and your failure to safeguard those lads in your care – and God forbid you and your ilk ever own up to wrongdoing, that’s just for the likes of WE who employ YOU. As one of your employers, let me just say that you make every right minded person sick to his/her stomach.

“let me just say that you make every right minded person sick to his/her stomach”, I agree, but contrary to the SWP’s dismissal of allegations made by their ruling leadership, there are a lot of left thinking people who also find such behaviour disgusting.
But without a trial with decent legal counsel for both sides,I cannot see any of us getting to a just decision or outcome on these cases.
PS I know you meant right thinking by way of moral thought, but since this accusation besmirches a left wing political party and ex supposedly left wing politician, then I just thought I would clarify matters.

Written agreement or not, abused people (and I’ve known it), Straw should know better than to make such a facile, indifferent remark. It wasn’t like that with him when he was a student protester, ready to raise the roof on a range of matters. I think Husband is the vile character, convicted of abuse at a detention centre near where I live. His story has filled local news for the last week. It’s not just sex abuse. Retraining centres for disabled people – I’ve known two – are magnets for thugs and bullies, masquerading as instructors. I saw one young man with Down’s daily brought to tears, deliberately and for fun, by one such thug. When I confronted him after he tried the same on me, he pretended to have a heart attack. Action taken against him? Nil. It was claimed he needed to bully students to improve their performance. This lout later was appointed college principal after I left, years ago. He’s probably now long retired or dead. He won’t be missed by anyone remembering him.

yes, indeed–the record of the “system” known to criminal science is disgusting–it is time to overthrow the “system”–they ruin the human race, the animals, the planet–the overthrow of these criminals is what I stand for. HOW MANY MORE INNOCENTS ARE TO BE RUINED–look at the verminous Catholics too. I fight rape and abuse on behalf of my late mother. The horrible way too many children treated in this society means–what hope for any of us?

When confronted by scandals such as these, their first reaction is to circle the wagons and either deny that the abuse occurred, drag their feet over prosecution, or try to sideline the victims in other ways. Thus the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches tried to cover up the abuse committed by their deviant priests. The BBC covered up the abuse by one of its presenters of children’s radio, and then that of Jimmy Saville, and the Liberals and then the Lib Dems denied and refused to act against the abuse committed by Cyril Smith. And in the 1990s Private Eye reported the case of Mark Trotter, a worker at a London care home, who had abused about 200 young boys in his care. Trotter had died of AIDS, and the council was trying to contact his former victims to alert them to the possibility that he had in turn infected them. The Eye alleged that Trotter had been able to get away with his truly horrific abuse because he had connections to the governing Labour party in the borough and to the leadership of the local Gay Pride organisation.
As for the way the compensation granted to Husband’s victims was eaten up in legal fees, distgustingly this has also happened to similar payments offered to holocaust survivors, as reported by the Financial Times also in the 1990s.
It should not need to be said that the vast majority of the members of the organisations in which monsters like Husband hide and prey, regardless of their political inclinations, religious beliefs or lack thereof, and sexual orientation, loathe and detest them and the horror they inflict. They are, however, let down by their leadership, who seem to see such problems simply in terms of protecting their own authority or that of their organisation, rather than sympathising with their victims. Since its emergence in the 19th century, Anarchists have discussed and described the corrosion of morality and humanity that is a consequence of political power. The great 19th century anarchist, Peter Kropotkin, came to believe in it because he found the ordinary peasants amongst whom he lived and worked, both on his own estate – he was a member of the Russian aristocracy – and then in Siberia, where he was stationed in the army and where he conducted his scientific research – were far more moral than the aristocratic courtiers surrounding the tsar. Russian radicals in the 19th century hated the materialistic legalism of the West. Straw’s reaction here, unfortunately shows they have a point.

Jack Straw is fundamentally responsible for the deaths of 100,000+ Iraqis, and the maiming and trauma of countless more, and has never shown ANY remorse or apology. Are you surprised that he doesn’t give a sh*t about some child abuse?
At the moment his primary focus is not ending up on trial for war crimes, not an uncaring message he wrote sometime.
