A correction and apology to UKIP from Tom Pride
.
In several articles published on Pride’s Purge over the last few years, I have more than once described the United Kingdom Independence Party as a “far-right” political party. This is inaccurate and entirely untrue.
I unreservedly apologise if I have given the impression that UKIP is in any way a serious political party. I am happy to accept that it is actually an old-boys club full of fuddy-duddy intolerant, narrow-minded, crackpot dingbats who pretend to be libertarian but are in fact just a bunch of old-fashioned Thatcherite authoritarian cranks who don’t like foreigners and homosexuals much.
I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and damage which any untrue statements on my blog claiming that UKIP is a serious political party may have caused.
I am happy to confirm that these inaccuracies have now been corrected online.

I find Ukip entertaining in a perverse sort of way. Their supporters are odd bods too. Criticize them and they start banging on about the other parties!

I seem to remember that UKIP members don’t have a problem with women, provided they clean behind the ‘fridge. Perhaps they will put this in their new manifesto… when they can be bothered to write it.

Most of the UKIP people seem to be a pathetic joke, but the support they’re getting really isn’t. We can keep laughing at them and treating them as an irrelevance… and then in a year or two we might suddenly find that they hold substantial power in Parliament and councils across the country.

I’m sure UKIP will never be electable in Scotland, that is why all of the right wingers are in the SNP.
As long as we keep laughing at them, I doubt we will not take them for a serious contender anywhere, but humourless people are even less attractive.

There is a difference between laughing at and laughing with! …and in case you hadn’t noticed, UKIP ARE becoming a serious contender in many places. This may be in spite of, or partly because of, support for their homophobic attitudes from people like you.
