I might have to stop writing satire. It seems I might be giving the wrong people some very bad ideas.
Back in January I wrote a satirical blogpost about ATOS reducing their fit-for-work tests to one question:

Now it looks like ATOS have decided my blogpost was a good idea.
A partially-blind and disabled woman had her benefits stopped after she attended an interview with ATOS in which she was asked just one question.
And as a result of her one word answer to the question, the woman killed herself:
Bristol woman “killed herself after benefits were stopped”
What was the single question by ATOS’s so-called ‘expert’ which trumped a lifetime of professional doctor’s opinions and supporting medical evidence?
“Did you come here by bus?“
A killer question indeed.

Someone remind me – just exactly how many millions are we as taxpayers paying these cowboys at ATOS for this kind of incompetent, dangerous nonsense?

deliberate ..supposedly ! innocuous sideways questions to ” trip people up ” …they can then make assumptions …( it doesn’t matter how vague , curious and contradictory they are) by feeding the answers into LIMA …Lima was developed by Unum ( formerly the outlawed Unum Provident ) who were well known for running disability denial factories …” lowballing ” claims in the states …..for #ATOS
….ATOS also insisted on the use of the Computer says No Lima when tendering for the DWP contract . Claimants are basically set up to ” fail ” .
Some very perverse moral lessons are being taught by acting in such a underhand manner .
ATOS both in Occupational Health and DWP WCA sham ” medicals work on the basis of ” You’ve got a ” good ” doctor and we don’t believe you and we’ll trip you up …any but which way ” ….there’s also the ” All in the mind ” one …the Unum Bio – psycho social method …..Lima is also set up to be hostile to the supposedly ! ” all in the mind ” conditions like CFS , ME etc ….that ” coincidentally ” the DWP are institutionally hostile to … too .
They may well trip up the odd few coming the old soldier , the professional skiver / claimer / malingerer …but too many get caught in the cross fire . Catching out those old soldiers etc properly is too much like hard work …so it’s the laughably amateurish way for the time being .
The unholy trinity the Tory Government , ATOS and Unum .

Truly horrible. The people responsible ought to be ashamed but they won’t as they’re without conscience. And of course, they won’t take responsibility or even acknowledge their policies or actions are at fault.

ATOS banned from operating in America as “disability deniers”, but welcome here.
Also, do not ATOS know that it is a statutory requirement that buses are accessible to the disabled? It does not follow that the disabled person is “fit for work”.

finger raised,redfaced phlegmatic response “where were you when partially sighted,disabled people flagrantly using BUSES were not being hounded to death” WE are getting them OFF BENEFITS and I am proud of that.”

This is the good Mr Pride’s take on the suicide of that poor Bristol lady. This tells you all you really need to know about how shoddy and unscientific ATOS and its wretched assessments actually are. In my opinion, the questionnaire is a piece of pseudo-medicine, which has absolutely no proper medical, psychological or sociological validity. Its use should constitute a case for prosecution on the grounds of acute medical negligence. If a doctor was to commit as many fatalities as this infamous questionnaire has done, he or she would be struck off and imprisoned. As it is, these butchers and quacks have won contracts worth millions.

Is there any greater sign that someone is an evil lying sponger than that they can use a bus? Thanks to the curse of political correctness we’re not even allowed to mass euthanise those who are no use to capital.

The mere fact that you are able to travel unassisted on a bus means that you can travel to and from work. Next Q is whether you can lift just one finger to operate the till at the checkout!

On my DLA assessment, I couldn’t possibly suffer from chronic depression because (sic) I was perfectly articulate, suitably dressed, with my hair well done and my nails polished: it was summer, I was in bed wearing a strappy top and pj bottoms, my mother had decided that I needed a makeover for my daughter’s wedding and had given me one, Alzheimer’s is not one my afflictions, and I happened to have had more qualifications and education prior to my illness than any of the scoundrels “assessing” me and failing to carry out any mobility tests whatsoever to determine my level of physical incapacity – and I had witnesses. The tribunal panel was appalled. I still haven’t heard anything about my complaint against the pseudo-qualified GP who did the deed.

Some people in ATOS would have easily got jobs with the Gestapo or the East German Stasi. Exactly the same mentality, callous sociopaths(Sociopaths are people without a conscience. They don’t have the normal empathy the rest of us take for granted. They don’t feel affection. They don’t care about others. But most of them are good observers, and they have learned how to mimic feelings of affection and empathy remarkably well.)

Stories like this fill me with a murderous rage against the perpetrators. I have despised the Tory ethos – if one may be excused dignifying with such an innocuous-seeming word the psychopathic ‘philosophies’ of those who believe, sincerely, that they are a superior sub species of homo sapiens with the unchallengable right to direct and control the lives of their perceived ‘inferiors – since I was eleven years old. This is by no means the first such outrage against the human spirit by the Tories and their power-hungry Liberal supporters, but is without doubt the most horrific expression of pure evil resulting from their policies – initiated, I am deeply ashamed to acknowledge, by the previous Labour government. At age 76 and in failing health, I am nontheless increasingly finding myself at times contemplating very serious violence against Tories in general and our millionaire controllers in particular. If ever violent revolution can, in pure reason, be justified then the way we inferior folk are regarded and maltreated is quite certainly such a justification. I’m too physically weak to join such a revolution but here state I will be happy to offer refuge, support and succour to any in need who have decided to act. Those who do choose to rid us of the evil of the ancient arrogance that continues to degrade human life everywhere will, doubtless, be described as terrorists. Bleat as they may, the Tories’ nemesis has been seeded – by their acts against us – and cannot be much longer delayed. Their very existence has become an outrage that thoughtful men and women will be unable to tolerate. May they rot long in Hell..

As a person who has been on the receiving end of ATOS capability assessments on more than 1 occasion, I will say that the so called medical professionals that carry them out should opt for a career change into writing fiction and most certainly do not operate in a manner that I would want from a doctor……………. isn’t part of the hypocratic oath “first do no harm”?

I do hope the “assessor”, their team leader, and at least one senior manager are prosecuted over this !
The “assessor” should be done for Involuntary Manslaughter, and those higher up the food chain done for Gross Negligence Manslaughter.

This company has to be disbanded and we need to do more to get the PM involved as he apparently thinks this company is cruel. It is disgusting that some idiot paid to sit and ask inane questions to seriously ill people is then allowed to go unpunished. More people need to keep letting newspapers and government and media know exactly what is going on with this devilish company.

And they have not paid Tax? Never mind the goverment if someone sits behind a desk and a person kills them self because they have handled that person badly for what ever reason; then they are responsible! I would like to know how they would feel if it was a person in their family;
and some person,, some person sitting behind a desk had driven them that far that they have nothing more to live for then that person or persons are responsible and until they alone are taken to task it will continue……

ATOS Decision Makers.
We seem to have the problem of the senior prisoners abusing their very limited authority, triumphing over the weakest because it makes them feel better about their own limitations and restrictions. Among them there must be those who are unhappy about the way they are forced to do their job, but feel they must comply with management’s directions, because of the financial pressures on them.
Blaming ATOS rather than identifying individuals gives the bully the feeling that the consequences of their actions are not their personal responsibility, and gives them the comfort of being able to think that though it’s a rotten job, someone has to do it.
Some of the ATOS staff are qualified Doctors and Nurses, members of the BMA and RCN, subject to the discipline of the NMC. How can we put more pressure on the BMA, the RCN and NMC to accept responsibility for their members’ submission to malevolent political authority?
We must encourage ATOS staff to blow the whistle on abuses to avoid being struck off or cautioned for their own behaviour. How can we best do this?

Labour have so much to answer for, setting this whole damn thing in motion and giving ATOS the contract.
The coalition’s just carried on with it – chances are it’s cos Brown will have negotiated terms with ATOS like he did with that stupid aircraft carrier contract that would cost more to cancel than to build!

You have expressed the feelings of many people in this country Who are becoming increasingly sickened and outraged at the ever increasing attacks on ordinary citizens by this unelected government. Every day we see the wealth of the super rich increasing whereas the only increases the rest of us see are rising bills also increases in food banks, homelessness, deprivation, despondency and suicide. It has to stop .How do we prevent the dismantling of everything our parents and grandparents worked, fought and died for? Was it all in vain? We are under the control of Sociopaths.

I think you’ll find that the PM and everyone else involved are fully aware of the ATOS assessments they are the employers so along with IDS they decided what and how the assessments should be run and I can’t see anything apart from the gov who would be able to stop the press telling people what was/is going on – ATOS are partial scapegoats so if anyone needs punishing…
