(not satire – it’s the Lib Dems!)

The Liberal Democrats are starting to make a habit of coming last in elections.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Nick Clegg led his party to seventh place out of a field of seven candidates in a local by-election in Manchester – even managing to get fewer votes than the BNP and the Pirate Party.

And yesterday the Lib Dems managed to come last again – this time in a by-election in Wigan.

The party polled just 19 votes:

li dems 19 votes

What’s that technical term political experts use for the kind of difficult electoral situation the Liberal Democrats are now finding themselves in?

Oh yes that’s it.
