The latest YouGov opinion poll (YouGov is the Rolls Royce of pollsters IMO) has Labour with a 10 point lead and Ed Miliband’s personal ratings up by 9 points after the Syria vote.
The latest voting intention is:
CONSERVATIVES 31
LABOUR 41
LIBDEMS 9
UKIP 13
Some people might be surprised by this.
Some people might be surprised to discover that doing what the public overwhelmingly want can be good for politicians’ ratings in the opinion polls.
Others might even surmise that politicians doing what’s moral and right might also be good for their ratings in the opinion polls too.
What a radical thought.
Well, Ed Miliband’s just announced Labour will scrap the hated Bedroom Tax if they win the next election.
So perhaps some of our politicians are finally getting the message after all?

My local MP, Adam Afiye, and Tory MP for Windsor voted against the government.
I wrote to him and thanked him.
Perhaps we should all write to our MP’s when we feel strongly about an issue?
This vote extends beyond party politics, it demonstrates that human consciousness needs moral and intellectual guidance.
Yet history has shown us, politics is often woven with lies.
Sunday Morning Live is on, where the Daily Mail editor came on and spoke of justification for military intervention?
She said WWII was justified whilst WWI was not….. I think she forgets, WWII HAPPENED BECAUSE OF THE STALEMATE AND HUMAN WASTE CAUSED BY THE FIRST WORLD WAR! Write to your MP and tell them how you feel and important to remind them, we notice What they do and how they vote.

Interesting that whenever Ed Miliband adopts the policies of the left, his popularity shoots up. Perhaps, he will take note. Think what a LP commitment to re-nationalise the Railways would do!

I’m assuming the hopeless naivity is a ref to this: ‘So perhaps some of our politicians are finally getting the message after all?’. Is it naive to believe in politicians with a working moral compass? I do hope not…although accept this belief has been badly battered for some considerable time.

Can’t work out whether LibDems are toeing the Tory line because of some dire threat being dangled over their heads to reveal some dirt on them or whether they’ve grown neoliberally fat through consuming a rich diet of Tory ideology.

You are right but his membership of the “friends of Israel” and his failure to condemn them for what they are doing, this is a quote he made at a dinner(‘I do not want Israel’s existence to be tolerated or simply accepted, but recognised and celebrated.’).

Isn’t the problem that the LDs have at least two ideologies. The social democratic liberals have very little in common with the Orange book neoliberal liberals. They share a concern about broken pavements, dog pooh and wanting to be in the the EU but that’s about all.
Having said that the democratic socialists in the LP have very little in common with the neoliberal blairites; and one-nation Tories have little in common with Cameron’s neoliberal modernisers. We need a neoliberal party for all the neoliberals to join (be made to join)… then they would see how much electoral support there is (not).

Those calling for the renationalisation of the railways are doing so because of the price increases that would realistically be needed to bring a modernized rail system to areas north of the Watford gap. Whenever more infrastructure or modernisation of these once nationalized industries calls for huge layout then there is a call for them to be renationalised again, after shareholders of the said privatised industries have filled their boots.
