(not satire – it’s the UK today!)
DANGER! The following two facts must be kept well apart – mixing them could be explosive.
Here they are:
Fact No. 1
New research published today shows that childhood obesity in the UK is soaring and around a half of children in the country don’t take even one hour of exercise a day.
Fact No. 2
The government is selling off two school playing fields every month.
WARNING! To avoid serious risk of explosion, NEVER EVER be careless enough to mention these two facts together.
Oh shit. I think I just have.
.
Actually, obesity is likely to be linked to the soft drinks industry. Here’s an excellent article about that:

Gasp. Don’t get me started on this. Or the fact that the NHS thoughtfully allows its vending machines in outpatients to be filled up with lovely artery clogging food and heart stopping fizzy drinks for the masses. Can’t stay for more must re blog.

While I appreciate your blogs, it is a tad more complicated than that (of course). My wife is a teacher, they do have school playing fields, they also do half an hour a day of exercise in the classrooms, but that is just putting a finger in the dike when the kids don’t do enough exercise (and maybe eat badly) at home. They prefer computer games to real ones, don’t play in the streets (my kids did, but only once they were secondary school age), and which parent today would let their kids go alone to the park?
