Both sides in the Syrian conflict are responsible for war crimes and they should stop their playful quibbling at once, make up, shake hands and make friends make friends never ever break friends
says our Chief Diplomatic Correspondent Charles Saatchi
As the Syrian civil war drags on into its third summer, the conflict has quickly escalated from good-natured squabble to spirited tiff to what can only be described as God-awful bickering with human rights violations, rape, torture, massacres of civilians and other very very naughty behaviour committed by both sides.
With Hezbollah, Israel, Turkey, Russia, and even the North Koreans joining in the horseplay and high jinks, both the United Nations and Human Rights Watch have painted a picture of a playful quibble that has already become quite tiresome for everyone else after costing the lives of over a hundred thousand people.
For its part, the U.N. has said they don’t care who started it first and has threatened to wash both their mouths out with soap and water if they don’t say sorry for their prankish behaviour – which includes insisting on committing childish immature human rights violations, mischievous summary executions and light-hearted massacres of civilians.
The U.N. also claims that there are “reasonable grounds” to believe that chemical weapons have been used at least four times during the war, which they point out is not very nice and is actually rather quite naughty.

Bob – I found out about this some time ago. For me it shows the danger of falling into the trap of celebrity activism. A cause should never be too closely connected to a personality because – just as with Assange and other cases – if the person has failings (which we all do) then it can damage the cause.
That’s what’s happened here.

Is it a failing to speak your mind now, you may not agree with what George is saying but he has every right to say his piece, he was right when he speaks about political correctness gone mad and I am not a great fan of feminism myself, but his without men poem where he lists the things women would not have without women is pushing some women to do the jobs that men are genetically built to do, so that they will not have to rely on men, which is an independent womens agenda and I don’t agree with it. women are meant to be a complimentary partner to men not emulate them, unless they are prepared to have a sex change and marry a woman- all controversial stuff I know but one thing George missed out of his without men poem, women would not have children without men (at present).

What a laugh, George Rolph is initially admired by the left for making a stand against unfair ATOS benefit assessments until he is revealed to be not one of the left at all but expresses views some of which are shared by many ordinary people. So now he’s labelled by former admirers as being mentally disturbed.
Same old lefty attack the messenger tactic instead of debating the issues using valid argument and reasoning, which is understandably difficult for the rabid left when an opponent is articulate and able to defend themselves.
Mental illness makes a nice change from the usual grammar nazi attacks by the left on the working class, but I wonder where I heard of those who oppose a political dogma being classed as mentally ill before? Brezhnev lives on!

Crikey Guy Fawkes, have you got a guilt complex or something? I never mentioned any specific contributor in my reply.
The After Atos website which I’m guessing is a worthy but none the less left leaning organisation stated in their strapline that they think that George Rolph is ‘a very disturbed and disturbing man’ according to the url above supplied by ‘bobchewie’.
‘sanenormalperson’ wrote a reply in this blog:

I won’t stoop to the level so often favoured by the grammar and spelling Nazis of the left by criticising the reply that I quoted from ‘sanenormalperson’ 🙂
I took the trouble to read some of George Rolph’s pronouncements and although I can’t disagree with many of them I’d feel very uncomfortable in using or hearing the knd of disrespectful and derogatory terms about those of a different colour or culture that Mr Rolph thinks are ok.
I thought that it was ok to use these insulting names too when I was ten in the early 60s, but even old right wing reactionaries like myself have learned to respect the feelings of others and to feel revulsion at the thought of using them. He’s let himself down there.

It sounds like your on a guilt trip now being that you belong to a party that is considered to be racist, ukip. I was just pointing out that we lefties are not all the same I have been accused of being an ethnicitist for daring to call two Welsh people Welshies.
It’s political correctness gone mad. I’m a northerner and married a southerner my best friend was from Nigeria and used to laugh out loud at Gollywogs stuck on jars as a representation parodying a black man, she never complained. Women where I live laugh themselves silly at mother in law jokes, but the political correct brigade would have us banning Sindy dolls as a misrepresentation or generalisation of the white female and I’m fed up of it.
Nobody wants to deliberately offend but those that complain the most lack mainly a sense of humour and need to get a grip, they are control freaks full of their own importance.

PS where did you find racist comments attributed to George Rolph? I found so called misogyny comments against women and have been accused of this also. I’ve not been accused of being homophobic yet, despite my comments above, but again I have gay friends one of which was over the moon when I invited him to my wedding as he being a jew had never been to a christian wedding, naturally his boyfriend attended too.
What is most disturbing to any minority group is when they are treated with apartheid because of their sexual orientation, colour, gender etc not particularly what is said to them. My Nigerian friend was distraught as I was when she told me someone had spit at her and the street and shouted racist remarks, she knew the difference between banter and bullying.

I don’t belong to any political party GF, never have and never will.
I broadly but not unreservedly support UKIP because amongst other things they have expressed exactly the same concerns about unlimited and uncontrolled mass immigration into Britain that I know is shared by multitudes of ordinary working class people like myself who have been ignored for far too long by so called mainstream political parties.
UKIP is ‘considered to be racist’ by who exactly?
The same crowd of unemployables who shout down anyone who does not share their naive viewpoint, the same crowd who resort to violence in place of debate when those of us who do not share their ideology refuse to be intimidated or howled down, and the same crowd who use political correctness as a weapon with which to gag those of us who are not afraid to speak up for what we believe to be right (when they’re not throwing coca cola at Nigel Farage).
I don’t care what the left think, they have no valid argument which would stand scrutiny which is why they try to howl down articulate opponents by name calling and invariably concentrate on the grammatical errors of their working class poorly educated opponents even though the lack of education and poor social values are a direct result of failed policies which were wholeheartedly supported by them!
If you read my earlier reply you will see that I didn’t find racist comments attributable to George Rolph but I thought that he let himself down by being disrespectful and rude about ethnic minorities or foreigners.
From the After ATOS links to George Rolphs other statements George had stated in one of them something along the lines of the left had caused a level of guilt by forcing political correctness to be the accepted norm, which has made people afraid to use words such as ‘nigger’ or ‘wog’ when talking about foreigners.
I wouldn’t personally use those words and I would be extremely uncomfortable if someone else used them in my presence because they are insulting and grossly offensive, and probably ‘racist’ for want of a better word.
Joking and ‘banter’ are one thing although I’d balk at using those particular words even in jest, so given that I’d vote UKIP in a heartbeat put a stop to the immigration and human rights madness maybe I’ve been slightly indoctrinated at some point since they were freely bandied about in my late childhood.
Would you use those derogatory terms about ethnic minorities Guy Fawkes?

I agree with most of what you said in your reply, but will reiterate that not all of those considered to be on the left or right would humiliate anyone who could not spell, nor would I condemn anyone for swearing if they felt the need to, yet I wouldn’t say f… off to someone on the website even if they deserved it.
I most certainly would not use the word “wog” or “nigger” yet I’ve seen movies on tv where you see Black Americans calling whites “white nigger” but I guess they have literary licence to do so, not to mention lots of history against whites if they chose to emulate movies.
I know that my friends have joked with me and I with them, but it is not something we would go outside of our own home and say to strangers but to this day some do unwittingly, I was in a shop recently and a customer asked if they had a certain blouse in “nigger brown”, she seemed oblivious to what she said and the assistant didn’t appear shocked by this but where do you draw the line? As a northerner living down south I was ribbed for not calling dinner, lunch I argued that they must have known what I meant or they would not have been able to correct me i.e. if lunch is the correct word anyway, not up North.
Your comment on lack of education being a result of “failed policies” I would agree with to a degree, but some people are late starters and get left behind all the way through their school years, some just don’t want to learn and would be better going into an apprenticeship that did not require perfect grammar, providing you can understand them that is what matters, if they are not prepared to change and learn over again, who are we to say they should? Not everybody was born to be a brain surgeon and there are many ways to contribute to society. Usually I find what people lack in one field or discipline they make up for in another.

PS I believe the left should be discussing immigration and European issues that concern the public, even immigrant communities are concerned by mass immigration, but I don’t believe we should exclude migrants from poorer countries if they feel they can make a living here, Germany had many migrant workers from Britain as has the Middle East.

Our views coincide Guy Fawkes, the poor grammar reference was a cheap dig from me at left wing ideologists, often students and literate but childish who sneer at spelling mistakes made by the working class when they try to express concern about immigration or cultural identity. Sorry about that, it’s a habit (red face smiley thing)
I’m from the West Midlands, once the industrial heartland of Britain and I’ve worked in steel mills and iron foundries as a young man with many migrant workers from the Indian sub continent and the Caribbean.
I wouldn’t say that they were my best friends but they worked hard at dirty difficult jobs, lived in poor conditions and went on in many cases to start businesses, to buy houses and to live blameless middle class lives with their sons and daughters going to university to gain real degrees, not the waste of time media study pieces of paper which are so prevalent now.
My concern about immigration is not racially motivated but there are so many young and not so young people living here seeking full time paid employment that I can’t see the sense in allowing things to continue unchecked until our employment situation improves dramatically.
I do however believe that when a migrant chooses to live here and is allowed to he or she should abstain from trying to alter our laws and customs to accommodate their core cultural beliefs. If our way of life is so offensive to them perhaps they should take advantage of their basic right to leave for somewhere more suitable.
By repeatedly hurling casual abuse and insults such as ‘nazi scum’ or ‘fascist’ at their opponents and shutting down all dialogue instead of engaging in debate, argument or persuasion, the left have neglected to influence the debate about immigration that is now being demanded by the electorate and which will surely take place with or without them.

sorry about the post scripts but I would like to add, if the immigrants have achieved as you say. they would be voting for the Tory party not left wing parties.
Because they are usually more articulate and influential, voting for what suits them, their families and yes their cultures which let’s face it is more family orientated than that of the indigenous population at present, brought about by pressures caused by, class divisions, unemployment and poverty.
Relationship and family breakdown is not just prevalent amongst the working class as you know even royalty have been victims of this also, so what are the real problems in society that is creating the pressures, because it can’t all be down to immigration and Europe?

The migrant vote issue is not as clear cut as it may outwardly appear Guy Fawkes.
The older migrants who are successful still vote Labour because, unlike us, Asian migrants stick rigidly together to acheive their aims.
They field their own Labour candidates for key positions on local councils, school boards, police committees etc;
These candidates are from the successful cadre and they go on to wield power and influence, which then feeds on itself within their own communities where they are the elders who make the decisions which will affect and shape their own communities.
Entire ghetto-ised communities either turn out to vote for them or use postal voting where the voter never sees the ballot paper which has been filled out for them by their tribal ‘community leaders’.
There have been several court cases where these practices were discovered in parts of Birmingham, but the increasing usage of postal ballots within migrant commuities suggests that corruption is widespread.
Labour is the party of unrestricted immigration and they have fostered what is amounting to the ethnic cleansing of the English, the subjugation and subversion of our own cultural identity and the promotion of cultural norms and ideals alien to us.
Winterval instead of Christmas, courtesy of Nu Labour – I ask you!
Divorce amongst Hindu and Sikh couples is increasing, adultery is commonplace according to anecdotal evidence, and the young are showing signs of rebellion against the strict cultural upbringing that was once so admired by those who imagine that other cultures are somehow superior to that of the indigenous population.
I won’t even go there with the primitive medieval Muslim culture and it’s disgraceful treatment of women.
Afro Carribean culture? Families without fathers, gun crime, street robbery which has resulted from lack of good male role models, the refusal to attend school by young black males has led to a generation of wasters and rioters with a few noble exceptions.
Labours promotion of multi-culturalism has led to communities becoming insular cultural ghettoes, self styled community leaders are the conduit through which all contact with them must be made.
This has given rise to migrants who have lived here for years being unable to communicate with wider society, low educational standards amongst poorer migrant families living within their heirachical tribal communities, and no chance of integration with the rest of us.
Multiculturalism, rather than a path to cultural freedom, is in fact a form of control.
Nobody could blame immigration solely for societal pressures, much of it is due to the widening poverty gap, the ‘them and us’ blatant self interest of the wealthy who are becoming super rich, and the universal centre-ist policies of both main parties, aided and abetted by a tame media, which offer no choice to the electorate and no voice for the working class who are becoming mere drones or worker ants.
I expext the Tories to behave like assholes but the working class have been completely betrayed by Labour who only offer the same sort of thing but with more immigrants to replace us.
Unrestricted immigration is a tool used by the rich to become richer, it just means that workers must work longer for less, with poorer housing and eduacation and longer hospital waiting lists, so Labour are driving down our hard won standard of living.
Organisations such as the EDL are the useful idiots, if the Tories want to stir up a bit of anti-immigrant sentiment, rags like the Daily Heil run stories about UAF desecrating war memorials.
Labour respond by telling us all that the poor downtrodden migrants are here to do the jobs that the bone idle Brits refuse to do, how much better their family values are, how enriched we are by diversity, and they introduce the Human Rights laws which means that the rights of the criminal migrant trumps the rights of everybody else.
This is why it’s high time that the political class received a good hard kick up the jacksie, courtesy of UKIP.
UKIP are highly unlikely to form a government, Heaven forbid!, but all that’s needed is for the electorate to show the over comfortable political elite that we really can get rid of them unless they start to represent us, the silent majority.

I can’t believe we are from different sides of the political fence, although I’ve always been more radical left than mainstream, so know where you are coming from with wanting to kick the political class up the jacksey.
You obviously know more about ethnic minorities than me, as I live in a north east town that has very few immigrants in comparison to other towns and cities. I lived a more cosmopolitan life when I lived down south, but have never experienced hoards of immigrant communities except when I went to visit a friend who lived in Yardley Wood in Birmingham and he took me into the city centre where I barely saw a white face,( that remark was not meant to be racist but it was true) yet they all seemed to mingle with one another afro carribeans, asicans, muslims and the whites.
With global banking and money moving round the world in a nano second, for those making money from poorer workers, it’s either bring in immigrants to work for low pay here to manufacture, farm etc or they invest abroad where they can get cheap labour – capitalism is a moveable feast and is corrupt enough to ensure througout the political system and public schooling, that those that have money keep it that way – so I’m in total agreement with you there.
It’s been a pleasure talking to you aynuck and will reply to anything you might want to discuss, you can even criticize my grammar if you want( even thought I have English A level) I can be illegible at times due to rushing ,but what the hell.

Likewise Guy Fawkes, the pleasure has been mine.
If you think back to where the three young Muslims with distinct Black Country accents who ‘went to a wedding’ and ended up in Camp Gitmo came from you’ll know where I have lived for all of my life and where I left school at 15 with no qualifications, so I wouldn’t dare to be a grammar critic 🙂
The freed Muslims youths came from what we now call ‘the Taliban Triangle’ and in many ways that part of town resembles a triangular ghetto of Victorian terraces bounded on one side by the BCN main line canal and the West Coast Mainline railway alongside it, with a narrow 8’6″ aqueduct carrying the canal forming a road barrier, a large park on as the base of the inverted triangle and a busy main road being the third boundary.
The sister of their companion who is missing, believed killed in a US rocket attack before the other three were captured by US troops is a Labour councillor from that ward who was awarded the MBE for her work within the Muslim community. Like many other Asian councillors she is a member of countless key committees and organisations and has become quite wealthy in the process.
I have to say that I’ve never felt threatened or intimidated when in that area because like you or me, most Muslims just want to get on with their own lives with their families rather than engaging in acts of international terrorism (that sounds Pythonesque doesn’t it ?) but one has to wonder what was being taught at the terraced house that was and is being used as a Madrasa which the Gitmo detainees attended.
Globalisation is the expression of capitalist greed, we should support fair trade products and boycott sweated labour items, but population shifts are beginning to take place as poorer nationals seek resources that would be unobtainable to them in their home countries.
Health tourism is rife and our NHS is frequently used by foreign nationals who treatments which are prohibitively expensive to them at home, and the same applies to education.
If the questions surrounding mass immigration to Britain are not addressed equitably and moderately and very soon I foresee a degree of civil unrest taking place which will unfortunately make the EDL ex-football thugs look like boy scouts.
