In my experience newspaper hacks are the thinnest-skinned people imaginable when it comes to criticism and like to jump up and down threatening libel at the drop of a hat. Considering they like to dish it out to other people on a regular basis – it rather points to them not being able to take it back – like classic bullies.
That’s why I’m not entirely surprised that former Daily Mail / Daily Express hack Sonia Poulton – who boasted recently about being able to “trace” Twitter users’ personal phone numbers and addresses – has threatened to sue me for simply asking her how she did it.
Sonia issued the threat – saying she has “an absolute case of libel” against me – but said she will only continue with the action if I “want to be an idiot and try more trouble”.
In other words – shut the f**k up with your criticisms or I will use all the financial and legal resources available from my employers to shut you up myself.
Well. So much for journalists being fans of free speech.
So here’s my reply to those threats.
Sonia, I am calling your bluff. I will not shut up. I will not stop criticising those in power, whether they be journalists, politicians or the powerful and influential.
In fact, just to make sure you don’t now back out of your threat, I will be posting another blog post in the next couple of days explaining just why I think you are really so keen to shut me up.
And then another explaining why we must stand up to abuses of civil liberties – especially by journalists – no matter who is responsible for the abuse.
So sue me. Close down my blog – I’ll only pop up again somewhere else. Let’s have it out in court. Because then maybe you will finally be forced to answer my original simple question.
How the Hell did a national newspaper journalist manage to trace Twitter users’ personal phone numbers and home addresses?

It’s down to people not bothering to check TL’s and find REAL facts, that has led to the situation where the paedo VIP’s in uk have been protected by less than 6 accounts on Twitter.

That’s my experience too, you can’t appease bullies, can’t be nice, can’t be decent, they don’t recognise those good human qualities. The only explanation is it massages their ego and they are very sick in the head. (Was in Broadmoor allegedly and has history of mental illness – should be sectioned). They must feel extremely inadequate and lacking to carry out such spiteful actions. Pathetic little snakes, I’ll bet they are loving all the attention that is on them. What vacuous lives they must lead to be harassing people 24/7. They are truly obsessed.

Just an observation based on some experience. It is a fact that most newspaper journalists and their in house lawyers know very little about libel law and how it works in practice.
If you have a read of this website – you will see what I mean. One individual managed to sue pretty much the whole press for libel before they realised the claim was complete nonsense and the judge dismissed it when only one publication did fight it. Probably you will find her paper listed here.

If you understand what bullies are, what they want, how they get it, they can be humanely dealt with and their fragile victims protected. Their M.O.’s are predictable, especially the blaming of others for doing what they themselves do compulsively. They distract from issues of value, because they value only their controlling, immature power plays. Think how they use “projection” and don’t be hooked into fighting back with similar retorts. It will bring out the very worst in you. The bully has zero interest in any topic, accuracy, truth, or factual evidence in an argument, unless he can use it in the moment to bully. What the bully wants is to NOT be blocked. To be “in the know” and to be at the center of heightened emotions and drama.
