(not satire – it’s David Cameron!)
Before the last election, David Cameron pledged not to cut the armed forces.
But after the election he decided to reduce the armed forces by over 20,000 personnel and to cut defence spending drastically.
That’s a U-Turn.
Then – earlier this week – Cameron announced he would reverse the previous policy of defence budget reductions and actually increase defence spending in the next spending review.
That would be a Double U-Turn. Or a W-Turn?
Then just yesterday, the government announced that defence spending in fact would not be protected from cuts in the next spending review.
That’s yet another Cameron U-Turn – making three in all.
Anyone know what the term for a Triple U-Turn is?
