The Chancellor George Osborne has been voted the 2012 BBC Spoilt Personality of the Year.

The back-pedalling and Selfridge’s towel refolding champion, 32, beat 11 other contenders to the prestigious title.

Olympic whining champion Emma Harrison of A4e was runner-up while winner of the UK Open Trough Snuffling Championship Richard Branson was third.

“I will say thank you to everyone who voted,” said Osborne, who topped off an outstanding year in top-flight spoilt personality which included highlights such as reducing top tax rates for people like himself and getting the taxpayer to fund a paddock for horses at his country home while at the same time cutting benefits and services for the poorest and most vulnerable people in the country.

Last year’s winner Prime Minister David Cameron posted a message of congratulation on Twitter:

“Congratulations to George Osborne a truly inspirational winner, after an incredible year for British spoilt personalities,” he said.

Emma Harrison – who was runner-up in BBC Spoilt Personality of the Year – is also a favourite to win the annual BS AWARDS 2012 for services to bullshitting. You can vote for your favourite big hitting bullshitter in Cameron’s Big Shit Society awards here:
