(not satire – it’s the Daily Mail)
Like many people, I’m absolutely shocked and saddened by the tragic news of the death by possible suicide of one of the members of staff who was duped by two Australian DJs into giving private details about Kate Middleton while she was staying at the King Edward VII Hospital.
No reasonable person would even think about placing any of the blame for what happened on the medical staff – clearly if anyone was to blame it was the Australian DJs for pulling such as stupid stunt.
Or maybe all of us are to blame for allowing such a story like the Duchess of Cambridge’s pregnancy to roller-coaster out of control to the point of obsession.
As I said, no reasonable person would think about blaming the medical staff for the unfortunate – but minor – breach of confidentiality.
However – unfortunately – not everyone in the UK is reasonable.
Just one day after the unfortunate event – the Daily Mail ran an article placing the blame for the event on the hospital and its staff.
Here’s the Daily Mail article – read it if you can stomach it:
To save you having to wade through such stomach-churning nonsense – here are a few relevant quotes from the article:
It’s shocking – where were the checks?
.
In an astonishing breach of royal security, an unsuspecting nurse told the pair that …….
.
William and Kate’s private staff are furious and have expressed ‘deep concern’ that the Duchess’s privacy could be compromised in this way.
.
It simply beggars belief that a member of the public could call up and obtain details of the Duchess’s medical condition in this way.
.
This is a shocking breach of security
.
Where on earth were the checks and balances?
.
There will be fireworks over this, for sure.
.
Now the Daily Mail can see the possible consequences of yet more examples of its casual and irresponsible blaming of innocent people, can we expect an apology from it?
Let’s not hold our breath, shall we?

It’s a very strange affair all round. Jacintha was a mature woman, and although she would probably have felt rather embarrassed about it, to have taken her own life over it would suggest that perhaps she wasn’t getting the support from her bosses and colleagues that she needed to get over this. In one report apparently two ambulances were called. And then the police were quick to say that they did not believe her death to be suspicious.
I suspect we the public will never know the exact circumstances of her death, but I feel so sorry for her family to have lost a wife and mother over such a lunatic prank. Reminds me of the “prank” played by Russell Brand concerning Andrew Sachs granddaughter – these minor media celebrities have no concept of boundaries or decency.

Its part of a campaign to attack nurses and doctors per se. Guilt by association. NHS is vad therefore nurses etc are bad. Lets not forget that omission in the daily fail about workfare protesting. It was important for them to point out that protestors were part of some socialist plot to bring down the empire, but omitted to point out that tory mp who asked for the police to stop the protest was part of a libertarian group of tories that called british workers ‘lazy and workshy’ now how come they omitted that?
A tory mp was furious that the company being protested about lacked the guts to stand up to this nonsensical protest.
Instead of caving in and closing and offering to withdraw from the workfare scheme.
Thus it is. Corp tax avoidance whats the fuss its no ones business. Using free labour. Again no ones business. Stop complaining.
My deep concern at present is the profiteeribg from ppls distress and worry. Its referred to as ‘ the destitution market’

Apologies for wandering off topic ( again) but this caught my eye. Is this reasonable or quite odd. What on earth can it mean?
Phoney offices? Mock shops?
Artificial trading desks, virtual building sites?
” Under the Work Programme, we provide access for Host Employers to set up their own workplace areas in our Employment Centres to replicate real business activities providing in-situ work experience for our customers.
The size and nature of our Employment Centres means that internal layouts can be readily restructured and reconfigured, removing or adding partitions and introducing new workplace units to adapt to the specific needs of our Host Employers.
This enables you to observe and assess the candidates who want to work for you.
We will provide on-the-job training, guidance and support for our customers, providing equipment, facilities and floorspace at no cost. This gives you the confidence and security of knowing that your work is being done in an environment that meets your standards and deadlines.”

Ive just had unusual thing happen.
First an alert to tell me about an update to my carrier settings. Very odd. Next, after googling stuff about pretend jobs i noticed a message about an item being removed from search.
This happens normally if items are deemed offensive.
But in this case upon exploring this omission ‘ chilling effects etc i was surprised to see ‘cease and desist stuff,
This is pretty strange dont you think?

In defence of the radio people, at no time did they claim to be a royal person. they have emphasised that they never expected to get past the switchboard.
It has been published that the nurse had worked there 4 years, was on duty at 5am taking phonecalls despite all her Indian medical training, that only 3 months prior, her employers had been told that she had attempted suicide during a visit to her home country and that she should not be left alone.
It has been published that nobody had visited her in her work accommodation in the days between the call and the suicide, and that when Bristol-based Mr Barboza asked staff to do so, they left when they got no answer, and did not call him back to say this.
It has been published that the couple met while both working in the Middle East and that they are partners. And it has been published that the teenage girl that Vaz MP has always got a good grip on, is the daughter of the nurses sister who can’t look after her because the father left them.
The inquest has been delayed again. Nothing about this incident is clear.
The Duchess of Cambridge SLEPT through the entire episode according to The Second (un-named) Nurse; and if that hospital has had so very many POSH patients, and it is surely full of OE surgeons etc, then the nurses ought by now to know a genuine posh accent when they hear one.
The radio station gave the family thousands of pounds to make amends, yet they want legal aid for an Inquest? all very suspect.
The really disgusting thing that has been over-shadowed, is that the HUGE press pack, nostalgic for what they did to Lady Diana Spencer, assembled to block the street within an hour of the sick Catherine arriving. SOMEBODY made a phone call.
