(not satire – it’s the BBC)
While the BBC seems to be completely falling to pieces over the Newsnight debacle – staggering around from crisis to crisis shooting itself in both feet and just about every other part of its body – we need to really, really focus on the facts here.
The fact of the matter is it wasn’t the BBC that wrongly implicated Lord McAlpine in the child abuse scandal.
It was North Wales Police.
Abuse victim Steve Messham – and the widow of another victim – told Channel 4 News that they were shown a photo and wrongly given Lord McAlpine’s name by police when they were interviewed by them in the early 1990s.
Now I’m aware that the McAlpine family tree is fiendishly complicated but it’s an extraordinary mistake to make on the part of the police – which is why it’s even stranger that the harsh, critical light of opprobrium is being concentrated in the direction of the BBC (and on Steve Messham too) and not in the least bit on North Wales Police.
Obviously, I understand why Channel 4 don’t have any great motivation to take the heat off the BBC and Lord only knows there are a LOT of vested interests who are extremely happy to see the blame being put fairly and squarely at the feet of the BBC instead of the police – but it’s hard to understand why the BBC itself seems so keen to self-flagellate itself to within an inch of its own existence.
Any ideas why that might be?

As Paxman said, since the Hutton Inquiry, the management have become cowards and always ‘play it safe’… In other words, the BBC upper echelons are terrified of what government will do to them. Stupid, as well as cowardly, because overwhelmingly the public backs the BBC and would be even more supportive if the BBC stopped bending over backwards to placate government by giving us better analysis of policies like the implications of the Health and Social Care bill.

His family built thevdorchester hotel and other stuff why is evetyone running scared of this fecker? Seems another victim came forward abd its same story ” oh no it wasn’t him”.. Blah blah . Ok so is all this to stop any enquiry into the sex abuse of children? Or will it continue or is this some ‘pearl harbor’ to control the net as it will be seen as the enemy within? Cameron binted at a crack down on net not so long ago

Ever since the infamous Hutton Inquiry, the BBC has been politically punch drunk and is therefore accustomed to being blamed for everything it says and does – and also for everything it does not say or do which someone declares they should.

Looks to me like Chris Patton is there to oversee the decommissioning of the BBC?
Turns out Entwhistle was headhunted for the Job by Conservative central office too.
The Conservative party are fearful no doubt, of any associations or connections between saVILE and government perhaps, for legal and accountability reasons naturally and having lost faith in their new man, they now need a safer pair of hands to oversee the cover up.
Could it be, the government view the UK population as easily manipulated and fob-off able?
Perhaps, the big Gov now has to face up to the combined intellect and conscience of a nation who are able to share thoughts and ideas very quickly on the internet?
Cameron soon realised, that Lord McAlpine and the government legal team had to act so quickly, they couldn’t even get their stories straight?
Now there are teams of lawyers, ministers and sympathetic journalists, frantically shovelling smoke, trying to obliterate a growing stream of crisis into management opportunities by sleight of hand.
I wonder if the government will continue to openly attack straw men arguments to deflect from the central issue.
Will there be more “emotional leakage” of the contempt and ignorance with which the PM views, ordinary people in order to create space between the “plebs” and them?
A powerful press, a free internet, government and judiciary will all be working over time until David Cameron can find the courage to do the right thing I feel.
Concentrate efforts on restoring justice to the victims and their families.
Listen to people, understand people’s feelings and perhaps, show some bloody compassion and a willingness to place peace and justice and public concerns, above private and establishment self-interest.
Either that or the government switches off the internet, mobile phone networks, the broadcasters and the press, then enforces Marshall Law like a proper dictatorship.
Whilst we the Majority of People are fed up with lies, austerity and political Hubris, like “Dorries” jetting off to Australia pleb-gate and DWP cock ups and double dip recession and so on and so-forth.
The collective conscience, perhaps views our government as an enemy in some people’s hearts?
Clearly, the BBC and the government are feeling threatened too, both from within and beyond.
Meanwhile, it’s remembrance Sunday today.
I like many families in this country and elsewhere, lost five ancestors in the Great War and three casualties and four ancestors of mine were killed in WWII.
This country has lost a lot in the course of holding itself together.
Certainly, the spirit of the people and those who fought and died for the world of today, did not fight and die to allow children in care homes to be abused and for free masons to do as they damn well please.
We want our country back,
Not a witch hunt against “gays” or free hand outs, we want, mutual health and happiness, a sense of social trust and security and co-operation, not so that an exclusive elite may pursue an ideology and pass moral judgement upon a nation, dumbing us down and treating us as fools.
Thank you for your blog Tom!
Regards,
Drew

Actually you’ll only find it’s gullible ‘pay for child rape’ BBC license payers who back the BBC; people with brains stopped paying and binned the brainwashing box a long time ago now. Dare you find out why?

Finally, if you actually wish to help, rather than gawp: #OpBLACKHEATH (an Pperation run by Operation Occupy The Banks #OTB) DA-Noticed we think, in the most corrupt move ever of the UK House of Lords:
See Lord Blackheath’s speech about this fifteen TRILLION (sic) US Treasury, Fed, JP Morgan, HSBC, RBS, and twenty European banks FRAUD and MONEY LAUNDERING OPERATION, especially if you want to JAIL THE LOT!

Plenty more, including the SIGNED EVIDENCE (Greenspan; Geithner), etc; see down the right hand side of #OTB for the basics! 🙂
We could do with some help; especially dare I say, donations; they’re starving us off the net with simply MONTHS long 24/7 hacking; and covering the paedophilia means none of the ad networks will take us. Neat huh.
TIA.
