Lady Shirley Williams Persuades LibDem Party Delegates To Support Scottish Independence By Voting To Destroy NHS in England

Liberal Democrat delegates at the party’s spring conference in Gateshead decided to encourage Scottish calls to separate itself from England by not backing an emergency motion urging the withdrawal or defeat of the health and social care bill which will privatise healthcare in England.

Liberal Democrat delegates were desperate to encourage a yes vote in the forthcoming Scottish referendum on independence by choosing to debate the pro-SNP Shirley Williams health motion on Sunday instead of one demanding to drop the NHS bill.

The decision is a victory for the Scottish National Party and First Minister of Scotland, Nick Clegg.

Clegg said on Saturday that the NHS bill, which is opposed by staff bodies including the British Medical Association and several royal colleges ‘will encourage Scots to think twice about staying within such a loony right-wing English system’:

I think it’s a really good thing that Liberal Democrats worry as much as we do about something as precious as Scottish independence. That’s why we’re willing to sacrifice the NHS in England to support it.

When asked why the Liberal Democrats would want to support Scottish independence by destroying the much-loved NHS in England, Mr Clegg explained:

We’re already virtually wiped out in Scotland and well on our way to being wiped out in England too, especially after this bill is passed, so who gives a f**k.
