As a catastrophic meltdown in the the Eurozone looked more and more likely by the hour and as governments braced for a probable attack by Israel on Iran’s nuclear instalations, the Prime Minister went into crisis mode by announcing an all-out operation to save the Home Secretary.
The operation to save Theresa May was launched at a crisis meeting attended by senior Tory MPs, shortly before the start of the weekly session of prime minister’s questions. The operation paid off as the home secretary appeared to have been successfully shored up by the aggressive intervention of Tory MPs in the Commons. One Tory backbencher said:
At this moment of global crisis it is essential that the government does everything it can to look after its own. We mustn’t let global emergencies distract us from the most important work of the government – namely to shore up the weak links in our administration with bluster, cant and spin.
